Beautiful .458 Lott - what bullet do you use in that monster? It looks all purty like a new gun, has it been hunting yet? Results? I'd expect pretty doggone good results from such a cannon.

Noticed that all of your rifles pack some punch - not a bad thing in country with big bears...

Thanks, Guy

I just picked it up friday and due to veterans day didn't get a chance to shoot it this weekend. I'll be out wednessday to try it out. I have no doubts that it will be an excellent rifle. The builder has a stellar reputation for very accurate rifles. I have a bunch of 350gr speer loaded up at 2750fps to try out and have fun with. Depending how they shoot I might use them for deer or even moose. Speer claims they will handle anything in alaska but I don't have any first hand info on that one. For hunting I will probably go with 400gr kodiak, 400gr Northfork, or 400gr swift A frame. I should be able to drive any of these to 2600+fps and have a real hammer for alaskan game. Some other bullets of note were 450gr TSX and 400gr woodliegh. I don't think any alaskan game calls for bullets heavier than 450grs.

A little extra power is always a good thing when it comes to rifles. I doubt that there is anything in alaska that you couldn't cleanly take with the 308 using premium bullets and good bullet placement but when you get up next to a big moose or any bear that little extra power gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. That 6lb 375 just gives you the fuzzy feeling, that thing is brutal off the rest. Its not bad offhand though.

Another couple of things to note are the brockmans popup peep scope bases. They are fantastic I have them on both the lightweight 375 and the new 458 Lott. I can't think of a better setup for backup sights.

I also got a cap so I could remove the muzzle brake for hunting out of the airboat.

Its pretty now but give it a few years worth of hunting and it will be just as beat up as the rest of my rifles

Thanks for the additional photos and details. Quite a rifle!

You can also fire 458 win mag out of that combo without any problem. Sort of like a 22 long rifle, 22 short. Have fun. My 458 prefered 510 grain soft points. It shot the 500 grain fmj real well too. When you fire that thing, the term, "life is a blast" will take on a whole new meaning!
