Things You Don't See in NYS

Yup, in deference to Californians visiting other states, it seems seems as if they need to be advised not to attempt petting the bison.
A number of years ago, I picked up a rep from CA at the Jackson Hole Airport (he had flown in for an event). We took him on the back road to Teton Village and in the 10 miles to his hotel, we saw Bison, Black Bear, Deer, Moose and a herd of Elk. He was completely convinced we set up a milk run for him to see the wildlife and it was all prearranged. Just another day in WY.

As you all know, the Mountain Lion is a protected species in California. About a year or so ago, a man who worked for California Fish and game went on a LEGAL Mountain Lion hunt in ANOTHER state was was successful. When California Fish & Game found out he was fired from his job. Must be one hell of a fine place to work, NOT. I heard he tried to sue for wrongful termination but no idea of he outcome.

There is a herd of Bison in Golden Gate park in San Francisco. Big Horn sheep, wolves, wolverine in the Sierra Nevada.
And some of the biggest black bears at Tahoe. They eat good on tourist left overs. One went over 500 lbs.

It's not all beach, parking lots and nut trees. Donner Pass got 10 ft of snow in one storm couple years ago.
But there is ignorance about wildlife.

I always wonder how many people notice that it is a fake - mule deer antlers on a pronghorn antelope.
What is really funny, I know the store that it is in and I am not sure I have ever noticed it or thought it was out of place. hahaha
