On my way home from work this afternoon and a pair of yotes crossing a stubble field caught my eye. So I pulled over and pulled out the binos and watched them mouse for a bit when a glint of sunlight reflected off of some horn in the bush behind them. Shut off the truck and got the binos steady and sure enough I could pick out a bull moose in the brush just in side the field edge. So I decided to have some fun, I turned around went back to the next grid road and headed south into an oil lease parked the truck and struck off with the wind in my face for a point of trees aproximitly 400 yrds due east of the bull. Once in position I let go with a few mournful cow moose moans and waited. 5 min nothing no noise no grunts , I let out another series of moans and waited. After 10 minutes I figured he's not falling for it or has a cow outta site with him. I stand up turn to leave only to here a twig snap right behind me. I shoulda had it on video but all I got is a nice pic. I wish I was drawn but no tag, here is a beauty of an alberta bull at 8 yrds.

That's a broad side shot that archers and riflemen alike dream about.

Amazing how they drift in so silently at times, isn't it. He is, indeed, a beauty. I saw one of the largest moose I've ever seen in this area when out hunting on Thursday. There are some big boys moving through the bush.

They are sure big animals! This one wanted to play, of course with out a tag all you get to do is play "tag". I'll play tag with elk some years when I have the time.
