used to have a .30/06 and ended up having it rebarreled years ago. now, i'm thinking about getting another one. whatever it is, it will have a 24" barrel. i'm interested to see what kind of loads will produce:

3000fps with 150grainers
2900fps with 165grainers
2800fpd with 180grainers

i know these velocities are attainable, but i was never able to get close to them back when i loaded for the '06. anyone have any good load info in regards to powder recommendations?

I shoot 165s in a number of 30/06s. All are loaded with 58.5-58.8grs of IMR-4350, WLR or 210M. Seating depths 10-15 off the lands.Rick.

I have a Vanguard 30-06 and have a 180AB load using 55.5gn of H414, GM210M, COL 3.39", and am attaining a 5 shot average velocity of 2832 or so.

I would look at IMR 4350 and RL 22.

I'm shooting 165 gr. Nosler BT in my 30-06 handy rifle with IMR 4350 powder and they shoot well in my gun. IMR 4350 is my go to powder.

I'd go with H4350 or RL-22.

Either of those should work, or get you close.

Out of my old Savage rifle I was getting 3,000 fps with a 165 AccuBond, 63.0 grains of Rl 22, Federal GM 215 primers and Nosler brass. With my new Tikka t3 lite in stainless with the same load could not get past 2,900 fps, go figure that one.

Switched to 59.0 grns of H4350, same everything else and got an average of 2,897 fps.

In my friends Stevens 3006 I used 59.0 grains of IMR 4350, Sierra Game kings 165 grn, with CCI 250 primers, Federal brass and got an average of 2,999 fps.

26" barrel on my Ruger #1 B, but with 165 gr. Nosler and 57.4 grs of IMR4350 and Fed. 210 Primer's, I get 2940 fps and 1/2-3/4 inch groups at 100 yards!

Those velocities are easliy attained with RL17. I have loaded the following:

1. 168 grain Nosler BT, 59 grains RL17, 3012 FPS
2. 180 Grain Nosler AccuBond, 56 grains RL17, 2820 FPS
3. 200 Grain AccuBond, 54 grains Rl17, 2820 FPS

My OAL was 3.41" with 200 CCI primers. All loads group under an inch from my Savage 116.
