It's a sweet cartridge, Fotis. In fact, I'm leaving in about 30 minutes for the elk grounds, carrying my 350 RM chambered in 350 RM. I changed the firing pin and took off the top rail. Then, I pillar bedded the rifle and relieved the channel to ensure that it was free floated. It consistently puts three 200 grain TSX into 0.5 inches, launching them at 2850 fps. I have taken black bear and elk with this rifle, and it does hit game with authority.

If I get one, it would look an awful lot like Mikes... I'd do solid flip-up scope covers, though. I don't know why, but the see-thrus bug me. but that's a fine looking rifle, Doc.

I want a 673, and I'd likely leave it scope-less and use it as a stalking gun, just because. But the last one I saw (last two, actually - one in 6.5RemMag, one in 350RemMag) were both insanely priced. Used guns on the used rack and a price tag of $800. I could grab a dumpy used Model 7 and recreate the darn thing with a custom barrel for that price, nearly.

I still kick myself for not picking up the $399 300SAUM version I looked at several times about five years ago. Oh, well. Just one more in a long line of rifles I wish I'd bought...

A few years back, Gander mountain had a boat load of them.
20" barrels, with the full venelated rim, and high sights, and beautiful wood.
They looked like a great iron site woods gun.

The laminate stock has sort of grown on me. It came close to drawing blood twice this morning, but the old guy is getting slow. The rifle handles easily and is a pleasure to pack.

Damn fine looking rifle Dr. I want one! Though I'd likely shoot jacketed and cast pistol bullets in it most of the time. I remember reading quite a few years ago in a Speer reloading manual where their test 350RM rifle was MOA with their jacketed pistol bullets. I've got a couple thou cast/lubed Lyman #358429 bullets sitting in the cabinet that would be fun to use. :wink: Jim

Did you use plug screws to cover the hole left by the rib? If so how many? Where did you get them? You know me I am anal!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I did plug the holes. The boys in the back of the shop had lots of screws to plug the holes. I honestly don't remember how many screws were used and the rifle is stowed in my truck at the moment. I'll try to remember to look at this later. Whilst the rib is certainly retro-looking, it doesn't really appeal to me. I wanted a cleaner look, and since I was planning to scope it, the rib had to go. It had the "J-lock" when I got it. When I replaced the firing pin with a titanium pin, the shroud was replaced as well. This gave faster lock time and improved accuracy somewhat. When I first got the rifle, it wasn't all that accurate. I've recently done some work with 225 grain Partitions, but the TSX is still the accuracy and velocity star in this rifle.

Get it, it is a nice handeling rifle. Keep the rib, it adds character.

Congratulations, Fotis. The cartridge is delightful and the little rifle is a joy to carry. I wasn't thrilled with the Model Seven action, but it does shoot well. Again, I wasn't thrilled with the laminate stock, but it has grown on me to the point that I enjoy it. Would I buy another? Only if it was available!

Fotis - I picked one up a couple months ago. Came w/o the rib. Has screws in the holes but not quite flush fitting. I need to run the rifle by the smith for better fitting screws.

What a great handling rifle. I mounted a leupold 2.5-8 on it and nice balance.

I found brass and ended up with bunch of 250 gr Speer Hot-Core and 250 gr Partitions. The rifle has shoots the Hot-Cores REALLY well, need to load some Partitions.

One load that shows promise is 59.0 grains of IMR4895, CCI250 and Barnes 200 grain TSX. My hunting load is 59.0 grains of TAC, F210M and Barnes 200 grain TSX. Either of these loads give me sub-MOA groups with good velocities. The IMR4895 load is somewhat slower (2680 fps) but 0.24 inch groups, whereas the TAC load is 2765 fps and 0.70 inch groups. I can generate considerably more velocity with TAC as this does not represent a maximum charge in my rifle. However, the groups begin to open significantly. I've had good success with 225 grain PTs and RL15, but I haven't achieved the velocity I am seeking to date. It is hunting season, and the rifle is accompanying me as is.
