It's Thursday, so it's Rifle Day at the Range!
Met my good friends Mike & Dani there and worked with them for a couple of hours, shooting at 100 & 200 yards with their very nice POF rifles, topped by US Optics 1.8-10 scopes, using .308 Win Federal match ammo. Yee Haw! Nice equipment and excellent attention to their marksmanship skills. Mike produced an honest 1/2" three shot group at 100 yards. Dani beat him with better shooting at 200 yards. They shoot to see who's buying lunch. It's fun, and they enjoy shooting together.
If you're not familiar with POF rifles or US Optics scopes, be prepared to be impressed:

Really high quality equipment and great attention to their marksmanship skills is paying off with excellent results at the range.

Mike & Dani could only stay for a couple of hours and soon left me to practice with my hunting rifles. I had the .30-06 700 CDL and the .375 H&H Number One.
The .30-06 was shot prone and sitting at 100, 200 and 300 yards with good results. It's zeroed at 200 yards with 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips loaded to 2850 fps. Hits a tad low at 300, but that's expected. Roughly MOA groups from sling-supported prone, not as well from sitting. All shots were fired from the loaded magazine, and I chambered another round instantly after firing the first. It's a good habit for a hunter.

With the .375, I was shooting 300 gr Hornady BTSP bullets loaded to 2520 fps via H4350. Good load. Today all I did was snap shooting with it at 100 yards. Loaded the Ruger. Then quickly shouldered it and touched it off as soon as the crosshairs were roughly in the center of the 8" paper plate at 100 yards. All my shots hit the plate, which is all I ask from such a quick-reaction drill. Those 300's kick harder than my favorite 260 gr loads...
I thoroughly enjoy these pre-season range trips to hone my rifle skills!
Regards, Guy
