I got some Hornady 350 legend brass from some retail ammo I shot. When I went to seat CCI primers they actually crushed trying to seat them. on a hunch I tried some win primers and the same thing. Thinking maybe my primer seater was out of round or something, I grabbed a piece of Win brass and they went in fine. The primers Hornady used looked perfect. I reamed the pockets with a Mil crimp remover on the Hornady brass, and after that they slipped in fine, just a tad snug. The primers didn't appear to be crimped by Hornady, so I'm left scratching my head. These were their 170 grain American whitetail, not the ones in the Hornady Black that was recalled. Maybe they do use some sort of a light primer crimp at the factory, but they sure don't look to have the tell-tell crimp ring on the pockets.

Crimped.
Not a huge crimp like some military rounds

Don't know about your brass but most of the Hornady brass I have and used does have a very slight crimp. Somewhat of an inconvenience for sure, but the brass does ok.
Dan.
