Any one had any bad experiences with a Tikka T-3? It is another of the rifles that I am considering for my son. Every thing I have heard is positive.
By the way, I have decided on the 300 WSM ... until I change my mind! :?

The Tikka T-3 is a great rifle! Some of the guys here are shooting them with great accuracy. The 300 WSM is a keeper.

Yup I have had 3 Tikkas . All of them shot lights out!

Tikkas Sakos and Savages are the only guaranty to accuracy these days.

.............No 300 WSMs in the Ruger Frontier anymore, so that leaves the Ruger Frontier out, which was a possible choice on your other thread in the "optics" section. However, there maybe a NIB leftover here and there on line at "gunbroker."

I have a friend with a Tikka 300 WSM. No problems to report, but he prefers the way my shorter 300 WSM Frontier handles and shoulders over his T3.

His accuracy is very good with the Tikka. Can`t really go wrong with that one.

Here is what Taylor decided on after handling every gun in the store today. Tikka T-3 Lite SS with synthetic stock. 300 WSM. I like wood myself, but hey, IT AIN'T MY GUN. I plan on having a Magna brake installed before he starts shooting it. Use reduced loads until I work him up to a full load for 180 grain Partition.

Yes, Tikka makes a nice rifle, very well known for accuracy. However, I don't care for the one size fits all chamber size, plastic parts or the palm swell in the stock. I think a younger shooter or someone with smaller hands (like me) would prefer something else. I think one of the Remington 700's or perhaps a Ruger 77 Hawkeye, would be a better choice. Another consideration is that most of the Remington rifles now have the awesome R-3 recoil pad on them and that is a huge advantage against recoil....makes a 30-06 feel like a 25-06!

JDMAG, get a good pad to go with the brake. I have both on my 300wsm and can shoot it all day without getting banged up. Why abuse thy self.

Had a Tika in 7mmRem mag and it shot good. Gave my son-in-law a Browning A-Bolt in 300WSM and I load for him and it shoots good also. 300WSM hits hard like a 300H&H.

Tika T-3 is a fine rifle, and spend a little extra for a good pad, the Limbsaver is by far one of the best on the market today, I install them at about a rate of 7 to 1 versus other pads.
We have had several T-3's in 300 Win Mag get Limbsavers and brakes, the guys love 'em.

Thanks for the replies. My son has Decided (on his own) That he likes my Ruger M77 MKII 300 win mag. It already has a magna break on it, and I plan to get a limbsaver pad for it as well. he has been shooting it for a couple of weeks now, and is surprising me with his lack of a flinch.
I have my eyes on a different route for a replacement for myself
Thanks,

Can't go wrong with the Ruger, add the Limbsaver and maybe a trigger job and he'll have the gun for life...

I raised the trigger from 2.5 to 4 until he gets used to it, then I'll lower it.
Back. I installed a rifle basics adjustable trigger back when I thought I was gonna have it for life.
Tha things we sacrafice for our kids!
