i broke down and bought a commercial rifle today, its a tikka varmint in .223 with a 1-8 twist which is the reason i bought it. I for the life of me cannot understand why they would put a 1-8 twist barrel on a .223 and then give you a magazine length for a 40 grain bullet? does anyone know if there is an aftermarket magazine available for it?

Jeff -
Get it ready before I get there...

I will joel thats the reason i bought one. where i am taking you is ridiculous i dont have the control to risk taking a high velocity custom rifle out there. I took the magazine apart last night and think i can modify it with a dremel tool. i ordered a picatinny rail for it so i will throw one of my nightforces on it. looking to shoot either a 80g jlk or a 75g amax through it. should be a good time.

Man, talk about Jealous! Now I know why you asked about brass. I missed this post!

That would be pretty fun with the long bullets in the 223. I know the 77gr SMK's work excellent in our 1-7 HK416's.. Shot pretty hard for a little guy too.

sure sounds good my 6.5x47 should be done this week joel so you will get to shoot it if it is. 300 should be a yawner with that.

Just got done stuffing 500 .204 rounds...need a few more 22-250's and might do a few .223 rounds for the black rifle. Just about ready

You can yank it apart and get creative,to allow more COAL. Tough with the Barbie Doll plastic that they use as mag material, but it is as of now,the only route to throat/mag harmony.
