I have the itch again. This one is going to be a .416 Taylor pistol. Gathering parts now and waiting on the new frames to come out. It probably won't be as brutal as the 450 Marlin pistol launching 300 grains 2457 fps. It will be able to take advantage of the higher BC bullets. I just got a load of brass in for it.

Wow, I like my 416 Taylor...and it's in a 9lb 10 oz rifle pkg so the felt recoil is manageable for me...
I couldn't begin to imagine the felt recoil in a hand cannon!

Did you get properly headstamped brass from Quality Cartridge?
And what bullet are you looking to shoot in it?
(I am currently using the 350 gr TSX in mine @ 2415 fps; I can go up 2 more grains to 2481 fps, but am happy with the 0.4" groups I am getting at this velocity. I still have to experiment with the 350 gr Speer Mag Tip and Swift A-Frame bullets.)

Would like to see a video of you firing that when you get it built.

I have a rifle as well. I like the 400 grain Partition in the rifle. I have also shot the 300 and 350 grain TSX and the Speer 350 grain. Actually had good results with all of them. The 350 Speer is a great cheap bullet.

Cool to have a rifle and pistol in the same cartridge!
What load are you using for the 400 gr Partition in your rifle? Velocity? Barrel length?

What length of barrel are going to use on the T/C?
What velocity are hoping to get out of the pistol barrel?

The barrel without the brake is 13.5" 350 grains 2250 fps. 400 grains 2100 fps. 300 grains 2370 fps.
Wow! Nice velocity
That's just 165 fps less than my rifle...
I'm getting 2415 fps from a 22" barrel with the 350 gr TSX...you are only 19.4 fps/inch of barrel less. (What velocity do you get out f your rifle with the same load?)
I can still go up 2.0 gr of powder for approx. 2481 fps. I haven't as I am happy with the accuracy with the current load. And I should get reliable expansion out to 200 yards with a retained velocity of 1942 fps (retained energy of 2930 ft.lbs).

There it is! This was JD Jones twin barrel he built when he built the one that Dr. Larry Rogers made famous. Doc contacted me and gave me his load data that he used in Africa. New frame will be here in June. I may tear down one of my current guns just to try it out.

But. but, but that says 416 Taylor...

Where's the rest of your rifle? ;)

Very cool. Looking forward to more posts about this beast at the range and afield.

I had contacted the factory about a new Encore/Pro-Hunter frame. They told me that they are planning to make them available again, but could not give me a target date. That was last fall.

Keep us posted on this. I want to get an Encore pistol in 7-08.
