Added the camera part 'cause I didn't want anyone to get too excited. I've not yet drawn a permit to hunt these guys. They live only a few miles from my home here in Chelan County, Washington. My wife spotted them, and I closed in on foot for a few photos:

I may never draw that "once in a lifetime" tag, but if I do, I'm pretty sure the ol' 30-06 and I could manage just fine.

Great pics and would get the blood pumping. We seriously considered moving up to the Okanogan country ourselves a couple years back. Job change now limits my location but it sure is some awesome country

Would be pretty cool to take one with a 45/70 lever action rifle eh? I was certainly close enough! (y)

That would be cool. I have a 1967 Win 94 Canadian Centennial Octagon barrel I’m thinking about hunting with for a year. Would be cool to try a goat, caribou, black bear with it. My only concern is it getting rusty on a nasty AK hunt.

Guy,

Those are some great pictures! I sure hope you can pull a tag. Pretty cool that you have such a variety of wildlife so close to home.

Handsome critters, aren't they? You managed to get them to strike a pose for you, and that is petty impressive.

I was within 50 yards of these guys today - and they were sorta surprised by that. But they didn't flee.

Will see about getting more photos as fall turns to winter.

Ol' 30-06...SMH...now Guy you should know you can't shoot sheep with an Ol' 06, well unless it has a carbon fiber barrel and muzzle break on it and weighs under 5 pounds including the 4-20x56mm scope with a 34mm tube....or a 45-70  impossible!

Lol great photos! Keep those fingers crossed and mind in the right spot and you'll get that tag (y)

I've pretty well reconciled myself with never actually drawing the tag. I'll put in for another few years. Maybe until I'm 70 or so. We will see.

And if I'm not drawn? Well, I've got some great photos from hiking with the rams. That's good enough for me.

I’m with you, I put in for Montana every year. As soon as my boy is old enough I’ll start buying him bonus points. Maybe I’ll live long enough to see him get one
