was ichen to try something new in my 30/06 so i put some RL-19 under a 165gr partician,, started at 56gr and took it up to 59gr,,( 3 shots ) all i can say is that didnt shoot worth beans in my rifle,, the only load that shot decent was 58gr and it was just under an inch but it was straight up and down  the other loads were all over the place i doubt you could cover the groups with your hand,, looks like ill stick with IMR 4350 for now

Well, there is one powder you can eliminate for that bullet in your rifle.

My 30/06 loves IMR4350 with 150gr bullets and I have 500 165's sitting here I am fixing to start working on with IMR4350.

My 30/06 shot good with H414+180gr bullets and H4831+190gr bullets.

I have had two 30-06's tha both loved IMR4350 and 165 gr. Noslers in the Solid Base Boattail, Partition, and AccuBond. The load was 57.4 grs and Federal large rifle primers.

IMR 4350 is tough to beat!!

ive been using IMR 4350 for awhile now  i was just courious about RL-19,,ive got a friend who has hade good luck with it in his 30/06,, but not mine

RL 19 is my go to powder in my 280.

57 grs of IMR4350 and a 165 (insert brand name here) out of an 06 have
put alot of venison and one elk in the freezer over the last 25 years.

I've got a couple cans of IMR4350 upstairs and a couple cans of RL22.
One of these days I'm gonna try RL22 in an 06 BUT,it's gonna have to shoot damn well in order to get me to switch from IMR4350

I'm using H4350 and IMR4350 in my 30-06 with Hornady 150 BTSP and it shoots well. I have also loaded 165 gr. Nosler BT with IMR4350 and I liked the way the shot. 4350 is a go to powder for 30-06 and 7Mag.

I have not tried RL-19 with 165gr bullets but the 150gr NBT in front of 61.5gr of this powder gave my 22" barrel 06 some great gps and right at 3,000fps. If I may offer a suggestion try RL-17 and play with your seating depth. RL-17 is now my only powder for my .30-06's.

i do plan on getting some RL-17 to use for my 270wsm and knowing me ill give it a try in the 30/06 as well  im thinking since the ought6 only has a 20" barrel the added velocity from the RL-17 may be nice,, like i said above IMR4350 has done well for me but sometimes i like to try other powders to keep things interesting

Like you I have had a great fondness for IMR4350 in my .30-06’s for many years. So with that in mind, think of RL-17 in the same respect as IMR4350 but with around 125-150fps increase in velocity. It has virtually the same burning rate as 4350. Check the manuals if you want. RL-17 gives me just as good or better groups as the old faithful 4350 does. This includes all bullets up to 180gr NBTs and that is because it is the heaviest I have shot in my 06. Reason is, not much of anything that walks in Alabama requires great penetration unless one encounters “big foot” “lol”.
