I used a .243 trim die as a form die.... slight wrinkling on the shoulder and neck. Can this be rectified?

I have that POP.... so I shouldn't use the trim die to form?

Remove the seating stem from your seater and it can be used to partially form a case. What are you trying to form?Rick.

243 from 06. How are trim to length dies different from form dies?

You would be much better off just buying 243 brass. If you did form 243 from 30/06, you would need to either ream the necks or turn the necks. The neck of such a formed case would be in what was the body of the 06 and would be too thick. I have formed 308x1.5 Barnes cases from 300Savage cases and had to deal with the thick necks. You would need to get some form dies made for your conversion and they would probably cost more than several hundred rounds of 243 brass plus the time it would take. Not worth it.
A form die is made to move brass in a controlled fashion. You push a case into a trim die and can cut the excess off with a hack saw.Rick.
