my 7mm Allen Mag outruns them all seated at 3.6" but I pay for it in the long run

Was a consideration as well, however like ya say, theres definately some cons to having the baddest 7mm around!

Dont believe I have to fireform. Shoulder is not changing any.
stw is to long and burns just touch more powder then I was wanting to.

RJAs much as I hate to fireform brass I almost wish I had improved versions with 35 degree shoulders and a little less taper. I hate trimming brass also and I think the more case stretching that goes on the higher the chance of separation ahead of the belt with multiple firings. A bonus is the additional capacity would allow me to run standard 7-300wm velocities in RWS brass or in normal brass it would gain 50fps or so and put you right with a STW seated long (well you might give up 50fps still but pretty dang close).
BTW Wyatt mag boxes weren't around back when I spent most of my time shooting STW's. Retumbo wasn't even a glimmer in Hodgdon's eye when I built my first one and H-1000 hadn't been out very long. H-1000 and H-5010 were the stick powders of choice with heavy bullets. I shot them single shot most of the time or one round in the magazine ramp and one in the chamber.

You know what - all i said was the 7mm-300 Win mag or 7MM Practical is NOT as good a performer ( velocity ) as a 7MM-300 Weatherby or a 7 MM STW and they are NOT ! Rem only makes 1 long action and with a Wyatt mag box conversion the KING of 7mm 's are the ABOVE and you can add the 7MM RUM too ! Period ! Don't care how much powder or whatever is used ! Just like the 30 cals - the 30-378 WBee is the KING of the 30 's and thats the bottom line ! :shock: :grin: by the way its just MHO ! :lol:

I was not looking for utmost speed in 7mm as Ive had the rem mag the stw and the rum.
wanted something efficient, different and easy was all!!
But yes, in my mind this will be pretty dang close to my ideal rifle for just about everything and how and where I hunt.

The 7mm Dakota had some serious interest as well.

wow, I thought this was over and done with approx 10 days ago. For what possible reason is it necessary to bring this dormant disagreement back to life. Everybody else has been talking about a variety of 7mm calibers for approx 10 days, without any disagreement I might add.
