Update the .450 Marlin

I meant to come back and post about that monster. It turned out that 1200-R which thankfully I have (not available right now) will sling the 300 Speer 2457 fps from the 15" barrel. This load is right at the 43,000 psi threshold. In other words 4022 foot pounds from a handgun. Loaded like that it isn't for the faint of heart. It is incredibly loud. Of course I use hearing protection so no problem but you can still tell it is loud.

A good friend of mine purchased his Competitor Arms single shot about a month after I had gotten mine and had ordered it in .300WM. Mine was in 30.06. With the muzzle brake mine was tolerable but the noise was ungodly and under a metal roof it was intolerable. We shot his .300Mag with 180 grain Sierras and two shots was definitely enough for me. He also had a muzzle brake (indispensable item) and after he touched one off I walked away. Double protection on the ears wasn't quite enough.
