Need urgent assistance  a friend of mine built a
.25/.300WSM custom. Need info regarding reloading this
round maybe a QUICLOAD info would help.
thanks.

He is using h1000 and think is overloaded, about 68 gr
seems too much.

start with the low mimium loads from 270 wsm and work up you should be ok.
I have a 6.5 wsm and that is what I used.

Look up .25 Pronghorn which should be almost exactly the same as the .25-300wsm use starting loads and work up. I read an article in rifle shooter a while back and there was an article about one and I think there was some load data too. I just looked for the magazine but I can't find it but you should be able to find something to start with.

Here is what I found with a quick search on the net.
Watch out for internet loads though some can be really really hot so the usual cautions apply, reduce the load and work up slowly.

CZ, I don't have much to add for load data, but man, I am watching this closely. That sounds like something I would love to have. I just really dig them WSM's and man, that has got to run neck and neck with the 257W. Scotty

This new kid on the block 25-300wsm is not as good as you think it is.
here is one that is as good and has been around for 50 years
the 25-06 ackley will shoot an 87 grain at 3920 fps
with about 12 grains less powder.

Your probably right Okie, and that will probably be the direction I go. To be honest, I would prefer my whole collection be based off the 06 or WSM cases. They both have alot of appeal to me. Both are easy to work with and just plain work well. I really can't find much wrong with the good old 25-06 Rem. Seems pretty well perfect, right outta the gates. Scotty

I have a 270 wsm and well pleased with it but really it is not much faster than the old 270 win
and burns a lot more powder.
I have 2 25-06's and wore out my 25-06 Ackley after 25 years.
planning on replacing it soon it was the only thing I had to hunt with for many years and loved it. And was very accurate once I shot a crow out of the top of a tree about 3 blocks away really supprised me. took a lot of deer with than gun.
you can't beat a 25-06 Ackley they are right up there with the 257 weatherby and 10 grains less powder.

...I'd be careful there, Sierra shows a 75gr. @ 3900fps, 87 & 90gr. @ 3600fps from a .25-06 AI...

Gene
look at the 87 grain load at 3920 fps
I shot this load for over 30 years in my rifle.

...uh, bad link???
...anyways, the Sierra Manual shows a max. of 3600fps for the 87-90gr. bullets, so I would approach anything running 300fps faster w/ caution...

...bye the way, pretty amazing you've got 30yrs. out of that barrel, pushing those velocities...

any way the 87 grain with imr 4831 65.0 grains gives 3920 fps

...sorry, not signing up...

...it's not that I don't believe you can do it, but when Sierra lists 59.2grs. of IMR-4831 as a Max. Load I think it's irresponsible & downright dangerous to suggest using loads 10% over max on the internet, @ the very least you might have added a disclaimer noting this load is just a hair above SAMMI max...
