If you looked at the thread in the hunting forum on prairie dog shooting last week, I posted a few pictures of Jeff shooting this rifle prior to paint. This is the rifle Jeff used at 947 yards to shut the neurons telling the p-dog to run and hide out of action :!: . Nice looking machine; and it shoots better than it looks.

Jeff can fill you in on the details of the build.

Jeff,

That is one nice looking shooting stick!

Right bolt/left port thing looks interesting... I always assumed (you know what happens when you assume) that was something more for single shots than a DBM-equipped repeater.

Nice looking rifle, Jeff!

thanks again joel for posting the pics. and thanks for the comments guys. i will list the components time and money involved with this build not to boast but to put actual real time costs to a full custom project.

2 lilja barrels 1 .224 1-8" 1 6.5 1-8 twist three groove navy tactical taper $700
spiral fluting by kampfeld kustom 150 plus 20 shipping x2 $340
1 mcmillan a3 sporter $450
1 bat machine vr 90 repeater right bolt left port spiral fluted bolt $1250
1 wyatt short action dbm system $300 1 extra magazine $70 = $370
1 seekings 20 moa rail altered by bat machine to accomodate the left port $100
1 jewel trigger $240
1 set of leupold mark 4 rings low $130
1 5.5-22x50mm nightforce npr2 $1450 "deal of the century"
1 harris bipod $100
chambering threading and crowning 260x 2 $520
bedding $250
cerakote barrel action and micro slick bolt and handle $275
1 set forster 6.5 x 47 benchrest ultra seater dies $100
1 redding type s bushing neck sizing die $80
3 boxes of lapua 6.5x47 brass $109 x 3 $327
3 boxes berger 130 g vld 40x 3 $120
1 year to complete.
still on the fence with the 22 barrel am thinking about maybe doing a 22x47 lapua instead of the 22-243 middlested which will incur more cost for dies and brass because i already have the middlestead stuff. DESERT FOX i think you need to do a 22x47 lapua and tell me what you think?
I have just run about seventy rounds through this since i got it so far it shoots very well and im sure once the brass is neck sized formed to the chamber and happy it will only get better. am running 40.5 grains of h4350 and a 130g berger at 2910 fps which is extremely efficient considering i am running 57g of retumbo in the 6.5-284 to get 3000 out of a 140g berger. i have a match this weekend and am looking forward to seeing how it does will keep you posted. I know there was alot of money spent on this project but the fact that i am single no kids no bills and the intent of dying broke i find it justified.

I thought it looked kind of interesting and didnt have one thats mainly the reason i got it. but come to find out its kind of handy to see the $1.09 piece of brass come out and land without having to look over the rifle especially handy in the snow for the reason you dont have to move anything to see the evidence of where the brass went.

That's a bad stick brother.... bad stick!

One of these days I'll have to get up there and see it in action my self... though, I much prefer the furry stuff to steel.

Jeff, that is one awesome build buddy! That is a rifle anybody could be proud of for a long time.

Yeah, that 22 Lapua would be pretty cool too! Were shooting the next time I come through for sure.

Often a look at a built rifle and think to myself "nice, but I would have done..."

Not this time. It's perfect.

What a terrific rifle...

That place doesn't have many "greens", so Brian would be fairly safe...beer selection isn't as good there either.
