Man, those are some good looking coyote, not the mange looking one we have here in Cali. Good shooting Jeff.

Jeff, You're doing a fine job. Keep up the good work. I know that it can be a challenge to drop a wary coyote.

I gotta get out and do some hunting....work is killing me! Thanks for letting us live vicariously!

Thanks guys, didn't have to work on the farm today so I called my coyote hunting partner. I hit the call and had coyotes answering from everywhere, these were all taken from one location. the 22x47 is sorted and shooting superbly, the longest shot today was 427 yards and hit spot on. wind was mild and only used .2 mils on the windage knob.

Joel, thanks for posting the pics and don't worry about there not being any coyotes around when you get here, there are plenty!

DF - that's one of the things I noticed when I moved north 20 years ago. I was used to the small, scruffy, little coyotes in Southern California... Got up here and they looked like wolves to me!

Particularly in the fall and winter, the fur is great - and several different color variations. Also, they're just plain big. Shot one that measured 60" from tip of nose to tip of tail. Didn't weigh him, but he was heavy to lug back to the truck.

They prey on mule deer...

USMC 89 - Get 'em!

Looking good.....

Get enough of them.... tan the hides and make a drap-cape. You'd really blend into the country side that way.

I used to use mouth calls a lot, but find them a liability in cold weather. I have tried the open reed single reeds and the rest of the lot, when it gets cold below 20 degrees they like to freeze up. I have switched to the Fox pro, and have used and owned the firestorm, fury, and the prairie blaster. Dave the last 60 coyotes I have taken have been with a foxpro. they work extremely well in most conditions, I have had problems with the remote on one of them when it got around the zero mark but the unit itself still worked fine.
