Dont remember If I posted these already- if so apologies- Like to think about the stories in some of this old stuff. You can see in the photo that the bullets have been pulled at least once. There's also some "reload data" written on the inner carton. Cousin picked them up for me at a flea market. They were wrapped up in saran wrap, and when I unwrapped 'em the box fell apart pretty much. They rode around on the floor of a Peterbuilt for a couple years before they finally got to me so that powder is likely "powdered" from vibration. (Dangerous condition I am told). Gotta render them "inert". I suspect pulling the bullets is the best way to do that? Any of you "collectors" out there know of a good way to maintain and display that box? More treasures for the "man cave" He paid $20.00 for a 1/2 box of unusable ammo....totally worth it! Enjoy the conjecture....CL

very cool , if this stuff could talk . as a kid , my GrandPap and Dad had ammo in a similar box , but I don't think the boxes had yellow on them . I'm not sure if I have that ammo , I'll have to check on it .

I have a few old boxes of 303 Savage somewhere in my mess. Think they were Remington white and green boxes but don’t hold me to it.

Great pics. I’d be tempted to put them old shells in a vibratory cleaner and see if they polish up.

 Well, I dont know. True story- well it was told to me, whether it was true, is I suppose up for debate. The smith who managed to resurrect my Mauser in 250 Savage (after I managed to break off the bolt lugs some how) tells this story.

Back in his younger days, when he and some acquaintances were in gun smithing school, they began experimenting with seeing how much pressure an old Mauser would take. One of the experiments was to put a bunch of loaded rounds into a vibratory cleaner. The theroy was that pulverizing the powder would increase the pressure or at least provide room for more powder. He would relate that at times a piece of pipe was required to get the action open.
I dont have other details, other than that his vibratory cleaner had a couple .30 caal. holes in it from rounds that detonated during to the process.
I dont think I'lll try that...but thanks for the thought! CL
