Been toying with the idea of picking up an Ultra Mag, either 7mm or .300, in a Remmy SPS or SPS stainless, and I'm curious what you use for optics. My first thought was a Leupy 4.5-14, maybe LR with the 30mm tube, but maybe a Nightforce might be cool... nothing like a $2k scope on a $500 rifle!

I had a 3.5-10x Leupold on my .300 RUM/700 CDL. Good combo, but my son now has that scope on his rifle after I sold the RUM.

A friend took a .300 RUM Sendero to Africa a few weeks ago. She used a 6.5 - 20x Leupold. I told her I thought it was too much scope before she left, and recommended something with less power, like a 3.5-10x or a 2.5-8x Leupold. She came back and agreed with me. Had trouble getting on game at 150 yards with a 6.5x minimum... Still, she clobbered a lot of trophy animals with it.

A Nightforce is cool. No doubt.

I have a M700 LSS 338 RUM with a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x30mm with M1 dials.

Here's what my RUMs are wearing:

7mm RUM - Leupy VX3 4.5-14x40 duplex w/ Leupy std mounts & rings
300 RUM - Nikon Monarch 5.5-16x42 BDC w/ Leupy std mounts & rings
338 RUM - Leupy VX3 4.5-14x40LR (30mm tube) duplex w/ Talley stainless mount system (awesome system I might add)
375 RUM - Leupy VX3 3.5-10x40 duplex w/ Leupy dual dovetail mounts & rings

L to R:
7RUM (SPS) w/thumbhole stock from Stocky's, 300RUM, 338RUM XCR, 375RUM

That is quite a stable of RUMs, RR. There is some serious horsepower there.

I put a 4.4x14 Zeiss Conquest on my 300 RUM. It has the Z-Plex 800 reticle which seems to work pretty well. You can go to the Zeiss web site and use their calculator to determine what the drops are with various bullets/loads.

Richracer1, which Talleys did you use? Kinda hard to tell on my work laptop's screen.

One of the local store is selling ADL SS 700s in a package with what looks like a cheap Bushnell (Remington branded), and one of the options is 7mm and .300 RUM. Curious how long the scope would last!

7MM RUM has a 6-24x40 Bushnell 4200 Elite with mil dot reticle.
300 RUM has a Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 with BDC reticle
338 RUM has a Leupold 4.5-14x40 B&C reticle
375 RUM has a Zeiss 4.5-14x42 with a custom BDC turret. But I just bought a Leupold 4.5-14x40 B&C to use on the elk hunt next year because turrets get turned in scabbords and my 375 IS comming along.

When I get through hunting season and get ready for the change, it'll be a 4.5 x 14 LR Lupy or maybe the 6.5 X 20 - none the less it'll be a Leupy.
At the moment I have a 6.5 x 20 Zeiss Conquest w/ varmint reticle atop my .300RUM Sendero. Great Scope & clear optics - I'm afraid however that the reticle could be too thin in low light situations. Hope not - 4 days away from season.

I used the 2 piece stainless mounts and the "standard" 30mm stainless rings. Fortunately, the rings were on sale at that time. So far I'm very impressed with them. The 338RUM destroyed a set of standard Leupod mounts and rings, specifically the rear mount and ring.

pending the price and if you dont mind a blind magazine I would jump on it hell you can always use the scope on a 22

I have seen some rediculous prices on those ADLs lately unfortunately none here close to me!

I have a 700 SPS in 300 RUM and have a bushnell elite 6500 4.5-30X50 on it, with the DOA recticle.

Wow. That's some interesting grammatical screwup. One of the options is two chamberings?
