Hello all- a new user here-
As you can see from the subject line Im looking for some advice. I suspect that if I can figure out how there is alreadt some infor here on the subject. I am about to take a once in a life time trip for goats. I will be shooting a 250-3000 savage. my pet load with this rifle is 38 grains of 4350 under a 100 Grn BT. I can push it up to 40 grains and keep reasonable accuracy (1.5-2 in groups at 100 yds) 38 grains will keep 5 5 shots @ MOA. Question is this will the BT hold together well enough to take an antelope through the shoulder?. With the 250 savage we are look at 28-2900 fps at the muzzle @2100 at 100 yds. I could load some partitions but is that over kill? I havent loaded any of them yet so I dont know what I'll get for accuracy. Also, has anybody used the 85 grain Combined Tech. and would that be enough for antelope? That would give me some increased potential for velocity? Thanks for your thoughts. CL
