First deer was on Labor Day, 1949. Mod94 Winchester circa 1911, 30-30 Win., 30-06, .270 Win., .308, .44 magnum (handgun) .243 by proxy, my rifle used by neighbor kids for their first hunt. Guess I should add the couple I took with a .22LR when times were tough. You try living in San Francisco on $200.00 a minth in 1965/5 with a wife anand child and baby #2 on the way. Not proud of he fact but it is what it is.

I'm sure I'll forget some but here goes.
My first was with a 270 in CA in the early 80's.
after that a few were killed with a 243
My first ID deer was killed with a Remington 600 .350 Rem mag
After that it was a 270 and then quite a few with a 300wm
Then it was a 358STA, 375-358STA, and .416 Rem.
Somewhere in there I shot one with a shotgun and quite a few with a muzzleloader.
I also shot a few with a bow.
Then a 300RUM, 300wsm, 7STW, and a 30-8mm.

thats over 50 years of liberal bag limits, hunting 2-3 states a year and when I was younger I cropped does for most farmers in the county on deer damage permits. I estimate I have taken north of 200 in my shooting career. been alot of fun and good eats!
