What Kind Of Accuracy Are You Getting With Partitions?

I'm shooting handloaded 165Grn Partitions on top of IMR4831 in my Browning BAR 30-06 and consistently getting sub MOA groups at 100 Yds with an overall average of about 3/4" CTC

Dark squares = 1/2", Light Squares = 1/4", group = .69 CTC

What kind of accuracy are you getting with Partitions?

You can pretty much say that Partitions shoot from .75-1.0" in the larger calibers and .5-.75" in the smaller.

We call that hunting accuracy, now with that, you can get them to shoot much better. I know I have a 25-06 that shoots sub .5" and the BT's shoot around .75"

My 264 Win MAg shoots 125 gr Partitions at .55" at 100 yds.

My 280 Sako shoots 140 gn Partitions with 57 gns of H 4831 in groups a little less than .600.

My last trip to the range (shack) I achieved .663 in at 100 yards using 165gr Partions behind 71gr. of Ranshot Hunter in my Browning BAR 300WSM. My son's Savage 7MM/08 is shooting .982 at 100 yards using 140 Partitions behind 47.5gr, of Ramshot BigGame. Everyone in my hunting camp is shooting Partitions and all sub. MOA. Nothing but the best - The Partition.

I've been shooting Partitions in my 30-06 for several years. I use the 180 grain at muzzle velocity of 2787. This in Rem 700 with 22" barrel.

I use WW brass, Fed 210 primer, IMR 4350.

From a bench with bags, my long term average for 3 shot groups at 100 yards is between 1.25" and 1.5". I don't know what my "best" group is over that period.

I hope to get some 180 Accubonds and try them. I'll be monitoring 2 things, velocity and grouping. I'd like to get 2800 fps, with groups as good or better than the Partitions. Based on past experience with this rifle, 2800 fps with the 22" barrel may be hard to get, and still have good groups.

I have never had a rifle yet that I could not get the Partition to shoot well in. Some took a bit more fiddling with loads than others, but I have always managed sub-moa groups. I will post a typical 100 yd group with the 150 Partition from my 300 Savage, and also a typical 165 Partition group from my 30-06. Eagleye.

Well, I guess you could say I am having very good success in getting Nosler Partitions to shoot in my hunting rifles. I shoot a 25-06, a 7mm Wby Mag, a 300 Wby Mag, and a 338 Win Mag. All of those rifles are giving me groups of less than an inch routinely with Nosler partitions.

I had reason to take my Remington 700 classic chambered for 300 Wby Mag out of the stock the other day so I took it to the range to check to make sure it was still sighted in.
The point of impact had not changed at all and I shot a 0.62 inch group with 180 partitions over RL 22. (This with an 2.5 X 8 power scope.)

Actually, I wish I could say I have found it as easy to get a rifle to shoot the new Accubonds. I have tried them in a bunch of rifles and have gotten pretty sorry groups except for one .338 Rem Ultra Mag that shoots them into unbelievably small patterns.

My own personal .338 Wiin Mag shoots 225 partitions into groups of about 0.8 inches routinely while the Accubonds averaged more like 2.5 inches.

Nosler - I'd like to hear your input on how to get the Partitions to shoot much better. The best I can do with 180 gr. NP's is .700" CTC in my '06. Granted, that is - as you said - good-to-go hunting accuracy. However, I prefer to shoot bug holes at the bench :grin: I can do so with ballistic tips but not Partitions.

250 gr PT
90.0 grs RL25
Fed GM215M
Best 4 shot group .490"

I feel that this kind of accuracy from a standard hunting rifle/scope and premium bullets is excellent.

I've been using 210 gr Partitiions in my .338 Mag since I bought it. The gun is a Browing A-Bolt Composite Stalker. The first load I put together using the 210 Partition and IMR4350 shot .75 MOA . I've been shooting that same load for years. It is a load that simply devastates large bull elk !!! From my rifle I'm getting 3050 fps (26" barrel).

I'm getting just under an inch with the paritions in my Winchester Model 70 30-06. I could probably get a little better accuracy if I played with the OAL. However, I'm retired, and between the hunting, fishing, shooting sports, target practice, load development, building fishing rods, grandkids and the wife; I can't seem to find the time. I'll get to it eventually.

I've got a Rem.Mod. 700 in a 25-06 that shoot a 100 gr. Part. inside a quarter inch with IMR-4831 day in and day out. I've also have a MOD.70 in a 300RUM that shoots the 165 Part. with a max. load of RL-22 inside a inch, sometimes a little better. I like 'em :grin: :grin:

With my 700 BDL 300 Rem Ultra (26" barrel) I found a nice shooting load using the 220 Nosler Partition (semi-spitzer). and can get .375" 3-shot groups at a 100 yds:

Overall Cartridge length 3.590"

The shots I get where I hunt elk are typically less than 150 yards, so I take advantage of using a heavier bullet.

I am currently trying to work something up for the 200 AccuBond when I hunt in more open areas, so if anyone has suggestions for this, I would greatly appreciate hearing them. Thanks

Hmmmm, .308 Winchester in Savage 110FP does 1" or a bit less depending on me with 180gr Partition Protected Points and Varget, I have some 165's I'll try soon. Years ago I had a Remington Mohawk 600 that did 3/4" with 165gr PPP's, sadly these were discontinued and then it did about an inch with 150gr NP's. Traded it off (fool that I am ), used a Olin made Winchester Mdl 70 in .338 Win Mag for several years, it did 1.5" with 210gr NP's. The .338 might have been capable of better accuracy, but I wasn't up to the recoil at the bench (hence the Savage I shoot now).

Several years ago, I had a Browning A-Bolt in 338 Win Mag that would put three 210 Partitions into a small cloverleaf every time. I hated the rifle, but it was accurate with those Partitions! EE.

My last group of 180 Partitions out of my 300WBY shot .351 for 3 shots at 3260 fps out of a 23" barrel. My 25-06AI does this on average with 100 grain Partitions.

The trick for me was switching to Lee Collet dies.

Note:.569" outside - .308" = .351" center to center. Seeing is believing.
