So you got all varminting situations covered.

All LR antelope, deer, elk, and moose covered again

What would you choose as a woods, up to 150 yards, for big game super wieldy rifle and caliber.

I am thinking 35 cal..................

Great minds think alike! I do like 35 cal for woods rifles. You can't go wrong with a .356, .358, or even a 35 Remington for dark timber with the occasional small clearing.

Well, in .35 caliber (or calibre, for you Mike):
1. Remington M7 .350 RemMag
2. Browning BLR .358 Win
3. Winchester 88 .358 Win
I don't know much about traditional Winchester and Marlin levers, but I would think a .356 would be kinda cool, as would a .38-55 or .375 Win
Wildcard: Winchester Extra-Lightweight 1886 in .45-70 or one of the big Marlin .45-70s.

Well I've always had a thing for two calibers that fit this profile. The 35 Whelen, and the 45-70. I don't think a guy could go wrong with either one. I would more than likely lean towards the 45-70 in a Marlin guide gun topped with a 1.5ish-5ish somthing. Its on my short list of things to add to my safe someday even though I don't hunt much thinck brush

For me, it's my Sako 85 in a 338 Federal. Taken both deer and elk with this gun.

I have a Remington 700 Whelen and a Ruger #1 in 45-90, both I think would fill your needs twice over. !!!!

45-90?

Yeah, curious about this myself. Is this a typo, a custom rechamber/rebarrel or a limited run?

"What would you choose as a woods, up to 150 yards, for big game super widely rifle and caliber."

I'm not sure what a "super widely" is... but for big game at modest range I can see any number of combinations working out just fine. If "super widely" means big stuff like elk, moose and bear, then I'd like something with some clout! A heavy-loaded .30-06, a .338-06, something like that at the bottom end, and something like the .45/70 Marlin at the top end. From my own rifles, I'd just grab my .375 H&H Number One. That should do the trick.

Back before I experienced my first .45/70 Marlin lever gun, my "thumper" was a shortened 1917 .30-06, stoked with six or seven rounds loaded with heavy Nosler Partitions & topped with a low power scope. Seemed adequate, and I suspect it still is. Especially for those trophy quality Super Widely beasts!

Welllllll,,,,,,,,,,,If it were for nothing larger than say Elk or maybe Moose, either the .308 Win. or .358 Win. in either the Savage 99 or Browing BLR would suffice for me. However if the larger bears are in the territory, I would go with with .45-70 in the lever of choice or .450M, prefering at least 400 grs. if not heavier. There's something about levers and timber/brush that seems right, even though I pretty much a single shot guy. Otherwise my TC Encore 9.3x74R works for me.

Rechamber, its a real easy job especially with a straight wall case. Bought a 45-90 chamber reamer and my smith and me ran it down the hole. Last loading was 63 gr. 3031 with 405gr Remington SP. Its been magna ported, has Simmons recoil pad and rotates up and off of the sandbags every shot. Shoots will under an inch at 50, it only wears a three power scope and kicks.!!!

I guess it would depend on the game at hand.

Nice rifles, not a Marlin fan but wouldn't mind one in 45-70, .450 or something like that.

I have two that really fit the bill, my Marlin Guide Gun 45-70 is REALLY becoming a favorite for exactly that kind of hunting.

My other choice is my Browning BLR in 358 Win. Also another great carrying rifle that points perfectly for me.

Give the 1895 Guide gun in 45-70 a try and you will quickly become a Marlin fan. Marlinitus is contagous.

Jim isn't kidding, once you get one, you will want a few more! Plus, they are some very well made lever guns from the ones I have seen so far. Mine is a great shooter also. Scotty

The fist thing that came to mind when I read your post was the 350 Rem Mag. Then, I read some of the replies, and can't find an argument with any of the suggestions. You might want to take a close look at the 9.3x62. What's not to like about a 286grn Partition at 2400fps or so?
