Well It's that time again.
What are you putting in for and where? I know there are some pretty serious hunters in this forum so there should be some pretty serious adventures in mind. And maybe some local trips that can be real exiting.
JDMAG and I are heading for Idaho. Where are you planning to try for?

I'll put in for grizzly for sure this year and likely for goat as well. There is always a chance that I'll drop the $5 and put in for bison, but the odds on that draw are somewhat slimmer.

DrMike, you live in a hunters paradise and I admire your commentary. I think I speak for many in that we wish we could join you in your hunting adventures. Actually we do in just hearing about them. Thank you for sharing
Good Hunting

Here in Washington I've got over-the-counter tags for mule deer, black bear and archery elk.

Am trying for a permit for an early elk tag, and a late season buck tag. Those are possible.

Am also trying for the once-in-a-lifetime tags for mountain goat, bighorn sheep and moose - but the odds are very against that happening. I also put my son in for those tags - he's got a chance of drawing one or more before he's old and beat up like me!

A buddy and I also put in for Wyoming mule deer tags! Sure hope we're drawn for that one. I like hunting in Wyoming, and my buddy is one heck of a good guy to hunt with.

Best of luck to All! The "tag hunt" can be daunting - and expensive!

Other than the afore mentioned Elk and Mule deer in Idaho With Greg, I have archery ,muzzle loader , and rifle ,deer for me and my son. If I can get her in a tree I would LOVE for my 7 year old daughter to get a deer this year. I also will do the obligatory bird, rabbit and squirrel hunting and maybe a trip to KY for deer. depending on the rest of my furloughs this year.

Bull elk and 4 antelope tags. 2 for me and 2 for the boy. Not sure about mulies yet.

my main planned hunt, is a 2 week mule deer hunt in S/E oregon. i have the required points so should draw the tag. i have a 12% chance of drawing a rifle elk tag in a unit i like to hunt. but plan on hunting the general cascade elk tag. fall bear starts august 1st, so i'll start the conditioning for fall, hiking with a bear tag. i put in for antelope and bighorn but with less than a 2% chance in the draw, i do not plan on these two tags

Greg,

I do recognise that I am a blessed man. My wife talks of moving back to the states when we retire in a couple of years, but it would be difficult (dare I say impossible) for me to willingly surrender the opportunities I now enjoy here. I had never planned to move this far north, but it was a good move because of my love of hunting and shooting. The people of northern BC and Alberta are a great asset to Canada. Though in a minority, they manage to lend an air of reason to the remainder of the nation. For the most part, they realise the value of what God has blessed them with and seek to act as responsible administrators.

I would love noting better than to take people from this forum hunting here, but that is simply not possible. The law imposes the restriction that all non-resident, non-Canadian hunters must hire a licensed guide. I've met some great people through this forum, and would love to spend time with them around a campfire.

I can honestly say that one of my greatest joys is introducing people to the hunting opportunities of our area. My family physician from South Africa and my family dentist have recently joined me on hunts, and will undoubtedly be joining me in hunts this spring and fall. Several other physicians in the community have joined me in recent years, and I have been privileged to introduce several young men to hunting in recent years.

Last June I arranged for the office staff from the dental office where my wife works to spend the day at the local range. They had opportunities to shoot rimfire rifles, big bore rifles, handguns, shoot trap and skeet, and engage in archery. We had a barbeque with the day. It was such a hit that they asked if we could do it again this year, which we will be doing in June. Coming out of that was the information that several of the staff had taken the hunters education course and the course that would allow them to purchase firearms.

I have already purchased my black bear tags (2), and will later secure tags for mule deer (2), whitetail, elk and moose for the spring and fall. For several years I have wanted to travel up the highway to tag a caribou, and perhaps I should do so this year. I have some great hunting partners and anticipate meeting many more in the future.

Well I'm pretty sure I just donate a bunch of money to they state of Oregon every year cause I can't draw CRAP!

Should get a buck tag this year. My two bros, and my wife should all draw, and hopefully my 80 year old grandepa will get one as well. Things aren't looking to good for him in the next year or so. Every year after the season he tells me he's to old and not going to hunt next year. Come spring time I'll ask him if he has put in for his tags and he'll get a big smile on his face and say yes. This one really might be his last.

I have six points for elk in oregon and the unit I'm after takes 13 so I have a while on that one. Looks like another gereral season spike tag for me unless I draw my second choice, which is pretty unlikely but has been known to happen.

Put in for speed goats, Mt. goats, and big horn sheep, but I'd have better odds of winning the lottery and I don't even play!

My bro Aaron and I put in for Wy. speed goat tags for the first time this year so we'll find out about that here in a month or so. We're also looking at an over the counter Northern Idaho White tail tag in November.

And of course there will be plenty of fall bear hunting in the first of Sept. with the general bear tags.

Applied (ie gave Colorado money) for mule deer buck and antelope doe both with muzzleloader, Sept and Oct

I will buy leftover or unlimited tags over the counter for everything else once they go on sale in late July, early August time frame for second rifle season in Colorado.

I may just luck out and draw an elk tag for a recently implemented prairie elk hunt in the WMU that is also very close to home. This of course is based on last years stats for required pri points. I have just enough points.

Possibly an antelope tag will come my way, also very close to home.

Otherwise my hunting season will be antlerless mule deer and general white tail. Plus upland game and waterfowl. Collecting points towards moose and antlered mule deer.

I applied for my normal stuff.

Prefrence point for Elk.
Bull Moose 3 points + 3 Weighted points, probably no chance to draw.
Plains Mule deer first choice, new plains late season White Tail 2nd choice.
Pronghorn

Loaning the CO DOW over $400 until sometime probably mid June for most of this stuff. I've got some plans for an OTC elk hunt probably 2nd or 3rd season as well.
