That is what I do. When I get an 8lb'er, I dump the remnants in my 8lb jug and mix it up.

I also try to keep one 1lb can to work out of so I am not constantly opening the big jug as well.

I do the same but I like the Alliant 1lb bottles as you can get 2lbs of powder in them.

The before www was available, how did you get notified about lots being recalled? When I started reloading 39 years ago the person I learned from never said anything about checking lot #'s when changing. I still don't pay any attention to them (lot #'s) even at max loads. I probably should. As long as your load is 1/2 grain or more below max it doesn't really matter?

I do the same. I keep one empty 1 pound container and fill it full from a 8 pounder and use the one pound container until the next fill. I don't like opening the 8 pound containers too much.
