talk me off the ledge last night. I was laying in my hotel bed, unable to fall asleep, and was thinking about rifles (could I not sleep because I was thinking about rifles, or was I thinking about rifles because I couldn't sleep? Hmmm). I had a temporary, dangerous epiphany... do I really need any more mid-caliber rifles? I was thinking any more would be kind of pointless, as I have needs pretty well covered. Then I relented a little, thinking I might need to pick up an M700 Mountain rifle before I'm done, then I thought I want to get the M700CDL-SF 6mm coming out this year, then I thought about a 7x57, then I realized I wanted a bunch of M70s... a glaring hole in my meager assortment, having only one. And Rugers, only three CF rifles (and one of them is a heavy barreled Swift).

I'm better now.

"Hi, my name is Kurt, and I have a rifle addiction..."

Fortunately, there are some great rifles coming onstream. Make room on the ledge, because a number of others will shortly be joining you there.

Hi BK,

You have taken the first and foremost & important step, you have admitted you are powerless. It also appears that you have been working step 5. Great job!!!

Remember we are here for ya.. 8)

Well you've certainly got enough new and shiney rifles, time to take a walk down memory lane and get some vintage sporters. That 7X57 and 220 swift part gives it away. You know you want to. That can be filled by a nice custom sporter built on a South american mauser with a mannlicher style stock. You'll also need a Win 95 in 405 win, a sav 99 in 300 savage, a Rem mod 81 in .35 rem and if you can find one a Rem md 30 in 30-06.

Sorry to tell you but you have it bad............. Very likely no hope for you as well as the rest of us!

I think you guys are rubbing off on me! I have been considering a 270wby for a few weeks now. I already own a 270win but just cant get this rilfe off my brain. Plus im a sucker for a nice weatherby.

I really think a 300 H&H in a M70 would be a sweet rifle. I would probably ditch my 300WM and 300WBY if I could get my hands on the right one. Heck, with that Nosler Legacy coming on board, I am really think of ditching both of the 300's and getting 1 300 mag in the Nosler!

Don't feel too bad Kurt, I am laying in a Residence Inn feeling the same pain you are! Scotty

I was day-dreaming today about a SS M70 in .375 H&H...mmmmmm.... in a McMillan Classic... mmmmmmmm... 2.5-8 Zeiss... mmmmmm... Express Sights....

I guess I just need to figure out a way to make more of those "flat green rifles"... so I can trade them for actual rifles...

Pretty easy build on a mauser 98 magnum action. That's what the M70 pre 64 was modeled after. Start shopping gunshows for a beat/shot out one and sick your local gunsmith on it. You'll be surprised how reasonable it can be if you already have the action and do the stock work yourself. I found my .280 that way, added a $200 piece of furniture from RM and recrowned the barrel. Looks like 2000 bucks and I've got maybe $400 into it.

Yeah, Scotty traveling bites. I spend 2-1/2 weeks out of every three in a hotel. On the positive side, my points from my hotel bought me an iPad.

My dream (factory, at least): an M70 Supergrade in .300 H&H.
