Which optic sights do you use on your pistols?

I'm not into tactical optics so I can't really help you with a Red/Green dot sight but if I were in need of a tactical sight it would be a Lazer type where you just point and shoot.
I use pistol scopes and red dot sights for target shooting but my defense pistol is a Colt Detective model with a 2" barrel (belly gun).
My hand is big enough you won't see it in my hand tell it's too late should I need to use it but thank God I never have.
Practice eye hand coordination without the gun in your hand by pointing your trigger finger at your target with your eyes closed and then open your eyes and look where your finger is pointing without moving your hand or body to correct any error in your pointing. Practice this till your finger always points on target and then do the same with the gun in your hand. When you can do this without and with a gun in your hand then you're ready to use an electronic sight. Trying to find that sight in a hurry can be very challenging especially in a life-threatening situation.
I was taught this by 2 ex L.A. swat team members who was hired to train special reaction security officers for D.O.E.
Funny how it remined me of training for a wild west shootout.:ROFLMAO:

I use a Leupold Red Dot for my S&W .22 caliber target pistol. As far as combat pistols are concerned I stay away from Red dots or any other type of mount. The normal distance for Self defense shooting is up to 21 feet. Most are far less. I'm 80 years old with cataract surgery and my eyes work well. My feeling is you are not going to have time to get your gun up, look for the Red dot and commence shooting without taking a few rounds for yourself. Actually most close range shooting is point shooting and sights don't come into play. (Check stats on that) I'm sure I'll get a little flak on my comment but from what I have seen and read it holds true.
That’s why one of my carry guns is a S&W 442 with a grip adapter and Barami Hip Grip.

I’m not clearing a building looking for the bad guys with it but in an up close encounter it’s likely the one I’ll have on me.

I have a scope on my .41 magnum but other than that nothing on my other pistols. I've been thinking about adding something to my S&W Shield Performance Center, but not sure what yet. Since this is an early Shield the slide would have to be milled.

There are aftermarket adapters from MSP, hopefully your Shield model is compatible.

Just got off with MSP and rep explained good information that I wanted to know, real helpful. Even sent me an email with links when I could not find it on the website. Just got the EGW dovetail adapter and the Holosun HS507COMP red dot optics with 3 different reticles. Adapter is backordered, will take 2 to 4 weeks, oh well I got to wait for it. That will go on the .38 Super Kimber. I got about 200 rounds of full metal jacket flat nose pushed by a stiff load of Blue Dot that I loaded 18 years ago for the bowling pin shootout. I need to pull one and see how good the powder is.

This has been a good read.
I have a Venom Red Dot on a Glock 40 I use as a hunting weapon. A similar setup in a 9mm for practice. It is only used off a stick or rail for precise shooting. I still need more practice……
