Who's hunting with a lever-action this year?

Woo-Hoo! Another Savage 99 in .308 taking another deer. Plus first time for the daughter! Can't get any better than that!
That is what memories are made of!

Yep, that smile tells the whole story!
Memories to be cherished by father and daughter for years to come!
And another experience that will keep the lever action alive!

The Henry (aka "Cindy") got it done on this Ohio doe late Tuesday afternoon, right before dark. About 180 yard shot, and she never took a step. The Nikon BDC scope was dead on. Load was 300gr. Nosler BT's; passed thru both shoulders.

One of my Marlins worked just fine in OH on Monday morning early. Hopefully more to come.
Have to rotate rifles so none get their feelings hurt.

What caliber are you running there?

I run into that same problem myself.
Gotta keep all the rifles happy!

45-70. That's the color case hardened model.

Thank you, friend. I'm planning to get her a "little sister" in 45 Long Colt.

I agree. Nice looking rifle.
45 Colt? I have the same plan but messed up and handled the Big Boy Steel in 44
Mag so now I think I “need” one of those also along with the 45 Colt.

Yeah I saw that big boy chromed out the other day, mighty fine. I wish someone would make an 1860 in 44 mag, I’d be broke again.

If you reload, the 45LC will do everything the 44 mag will, and then some. Factory loads are weak, due to the older Firearms not being strong enough to handle the pressure. But in something like a Ruger Blackhawk or a rifle, you can push the loads right on up to 44 mag levels, with a bigger and heavier bullet.
