I have always like the looks of the Mannlicher stock. For some reason, I have been reading about the 9.3x62 and thought this rifle and caliber would be a cool combo.
The 9.3x62, American translation 36 whelen improved, is an excellent moose/bear round. When paired with the 286gr Partition the ample power, moderate recoil, and outstanding terminal performance make it about perfect for moderate range big game.
CZ makes an awfully nice rifle. I have handled quite a few since they are from KC all the stores here have them. I have never seen a Mannlicher in 9.3, but now I will have to keep my eyes open.
I have a No. One 9.3x74R which although a longer case with lower pressure, is the twin of the 9.3x62. I get 2550 fps with the 250 grain Nosler AccuBond and 2400 with the Nosler 286 gr Partition. Think of the .375 H&H with a 270 gr Partition @ 2550 and you get an idea of power. There is only .009 inches bore difference between them.
Very cool rifle. Hope you cave. Love to see more 9.3 blasters around here. They seem to really put down some awesome numbers for an 06 sized case chucking a big pill.
I had a 6.5x55 in the Mannlicher stocked CZ 550. My son has it now but it shot really well and held at about 1 MOA with 129 gr Nosler bullets. My son is never going to sell that rifle!
