Because you don't have one! I have recently been thinking along the same lines as well. Think I will get a 45-70 though before I get a 30-30. BTW, I also think the 375 Win is a cool cartridge as well.

here you go Jim!

Fotis,

Back in the early 80's, I knew a fella who had a Big Bore 94 in 375 Win. I did shoot it a couple times and I was impressed! It was a real thumper with the 200 gr PP bullets. If I recall, Winchester also offered a 250 gr PP.

I should have bought one back then........

It is a good one....especially for your neck of the woods!

Pop,

You NEED to get a 30-30!
For 2009, Nosler has introduced a CT 150 gr Ballistic Silver Tip designed for the 30-30. Nosler p/n 51165. BC is .232, SD is .226, OAL is 1.066"

Fotis,

You NEED a Big Boar 94 375 Win to complete the battery of lever actions!!!
and I just might buy it from you if you decide to sell it.

375... :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

I do not know....the 307 win would make more sense.

Just get the 336 and be done with the migration. I will take a 336 over the 94 anyday but thats just me!

Just sight in or check the sighting on my 336D 35rem it did on a very windy and snowy day 1.25" groups with a 1-4 power scope. I know with a higher power scope I could shrink that down more

Well here is my new baby should be here Friday....

356 Winchester Big bore....for now. I figure I can get a 30-30 any day!

About the most useless rifle I can possibly get for my type of hunting!!!

Stigmas.................

Not accurate.....
Low bc bullets can only be safely employed...
Limited power....

(again all of the aforementioned are not in fact general hindrances, but inapplicable to my available hunting)

Usage factor .....1

Cool factor..........10

Can anyone relate? Any examples?
What is your current sicknes? :?:

I'd have to disagree that the 94 30-30 is not accurate - its hunting accuracy is more than sufficient for the expert lever gunner up to 200 yards. Depending on the year of manufacture, one can add peep sights or an offset scope mount for more accuracy.

Low BC bullets - so what? One is not shooting long distance with this medium range cartridge. Hunting close and personal really puts the fun back in hunting.

Limited power - I don't think so. With Nosler's 170 grain Partition or Barnes 150 grain TSX you're good for everything up to and including moose. I'd draw the line at Grizzly/Brown Bear.

There is the history behind the gun that J.M. Browning designed. Many articles/references have been written about the 30-30 and the Winchester 1894/94. Read Sam Fadala's book on the 94 if you can get it at your local library.

It really is a fun gun to own and use. Much more so than any of my bolt action rifles which see less and less use.

Just wait until you try other members of the 30-30 family like the 25-35 WCF, 32 Winchester Special, 32-40, and 38-55.

You'll be kicking yourself for not getting into them sooner.
