....make a No 1 A, AB or AH in 223 Rem? Doesn't anyone else want a lighter 223 than a No 1 V? You would think they would chamber one of the best selling rounds of all time in a gun like that.

They do funny things from time to time. It is a marketing thing. The dropped the 1B for 2012. It will be back.

I thought that little #1AB in .204 was the cat's meow....even moreso in .223!

And I thought I remembered the Hornet in a 1B (could have been a different variation) a while back... maybe during the Clinton administration? I seem to remember thinking about trading an SKS that at the time had an outrageous value to it... like $450 or something.
I have a #1B in .22 Hornet and it's a tackdriver and a half. 8) I also have the #1V in .223 and you're right. That damn thing needs wheels.

I like those Ruger #1 rifles in any model but the #1S is probably my favorite. I did have a lightweight #1 in .223 with custom wood and a 22" barrel off a Remington M7 that made a fine walkabout varminter. I let a friend talk me out of it and every once in while I have to stop and think, "What in the hell was I thinking when I let that one go?"
