well leaving for a weeks trip to ky in the morn, just cleaned the 7mm AM barrel and needed to foul it.
I decided to see if I could recover a 160 AccuBond, to get as brutal as possible and see how it held up.

I shot at a block of green sugar maple at a range of 30 yards, the AccuBond hit dead center. It hit at the velocity of around 3520 fps, penetrated approx 11" and was still intact when recovered.
retained weight was 98.5 gr or 61.5%, could you ask more from a bullet?

Man, that is a brutal test for any bullet. Throw a picture up if you can. I would like to see what that looks like. Good test. Scotty

Brutal test for sure! Post a picture, we need to see this.
Good luck on your KY hunt.

Thanks for posting the picture. The 7mm RM looks like a vermint round in comparisom to the 7mm AM.

The 160 gr AB on a tough one.

Wow, the 7mm Rem Mag looks really small next to that monster. Holy smokes. That thing must lay some heat down on deer. I was pretty stoked to get 3100 out of the 160, I cannot imagine getting 3500+ that is awesome. That really shows how tough that AccuBond really is.

Great pictures of a brutal test. The retained weight is really impressive.

I dont' have to tell you guys what I think of the 160 AccuBond. One hole groups and outstanding performance on game. That the AccuBond would be anything but fragments after being shot into a block of wood is amazing. I don't guess I'll ever recover a bullet from a deer unless I shoot one stem to stern.

I guess everything has been said about the 160gr AB it might be the best hunting bullet that has come along since the Partition
At least on this forum I will get a few guys to agree with me :)

Blessings,
Dan

Pop has it right its a 338 lapua necked down and improved, the H2o capacity is 122 gr. but OAL is shorter than the 7mm STW.

Ridge. Keep an accurate round count. I would like to know when the barrel gives up the ghost

will do pop, have got approx 420 rounds somn range now and cant see but about .004" difference in throat erosion, I'm planning on around 900 rounds, the .277 version of the cartridge has gotten 800 rounds and still shooting well.

I had anticipated taking a deer this year at around 200 yards with my 7mm RUM & 160 AB at 3425 ft./sec. I almost got the chance but the buck saw me before I saw him & caught me flat footed  Next morning while sitting in my usual spot in amongst a pile of dead falls, a smaller buck came by me at 25 yds. He didn't see or smell me & crossed in front heading for the edge of the tree line. At no more than 25 yards the bullet hit him on a slight angle, coming out just back of the front leg. It hit a rib going in which shattered taking out the rib either side of it. The liver exploded & turned into "goo". The right lung exploded & 1/2 of the other lung was gone  The most amazing thing was that the entrance hole was the size of a nickel & the exit was the size of a dime. The bullet did not disintigrate. AB's rock

took 2 deer and a yote with the 7mm AM this season, the coyote was 49 paces (ruined his day for sure) the deer were at 340 and 725 yards, both had the same size exit holes, the 340 yard one was double lunged, the 725 was center of shoulder in, center of shoulder out. yes the accubonds rock!
