I have 60 pieces of 270 cal. Silver colored Winchester "brass" that my brother gave me. He said it came from Winchester cartridges he buys to hunt with. Is it any good for reloading? I haven't reloaded in many years and all I have evewr used is brass colored. Thanks for any and all input. Al Crouch

FWIW, the 270WSM Win nickle brass is what I use and have used for the past 4 years. I haven't had any trouble with them and I am at least on reload #3, #4, and even #5 on some.

The brass you have is nickle plated.
Nothing wrong with reloading it.
You may find that seating bullets takes a bit more pressure and may shave some of the jacket off the bullet. If that happens try and champher a bit more on the inside of the mouth or get a vld champher.
Some will say the nickle may or will wear out your die faster because it's harder than brass.
Just keep your cases lubed and watch for flaking.
They sure are pretty with a BT sitting on top.

Al, I use it from time to time in the .308 Win and the .300 WSM - but only because a fellow gave the nickle plated brass to me.

The cautions from other posters apply. It can work just fine, but will likely start flaking after a few firing/resizing cycles. Then it's time to pitch it.

Best of luck to ya this hunting season! Guy
