Wipeout cleaning?

Well I finally bit the bullet and decided to try some Wipeout on my Browning BLR .308 to clean before I try a ladder test with IMR8208XBR powder (which I have never tried before). Now this rifle is not as easy as a bolt action to spray the Wipeout in, but it went in. Immediately coming out the end of the barrel was pure blue foam, so I am thinking about letting it sit overnight. My question is no harm will be done in leaving it soak overnight or should I only leave it a couple of hours and then run some cleaning patches through it?

I have never left Wipeout in the barrel over night but I have left it in for 3 hours. I have never had any trouble with the bore afterwards. It is the best copper cleaner that if have ever used :wink:.

No problem overnight. I do it all the time. Get yourself a delrin boreguide w/oring....it completes the process!

Nosler 06, please read the instructions on the Wipeout container!
I'm sure they describe How To Use it, and if I remember correctly, they mention something about 20minutes in, and then clean it out.
Anyway, thats how I have been using this product, and I'm that happy with it, that is all I use these days!!!

IF THERE IS ANY COLOR ON THE PATCH: Apply the Wipe-Out ™ again to the barrel.If the first patch showed all three colors, the gun is heavily fouled. Let the gun set for 60 minutes or more, overnight is best.   Wipe-Out ™ will continue to work for 24 to 36 hours.  Wipe-Out ™ was formulated for long term soaking, to absolutely remove the most stubborn fouling.Push a clean patch through the bore. If there is still color on the patch re-apply and let set for a longer period of time.  A very heavily fouled gun may take several overnight sessions, until no color shows on a patch.

I Use Wipe Out and love it. I leave it in overnight regularly. You should be good.

I used to worry about it sitting on just the bottom edge of the barrel. To solve this here is what I do . Plug the end of the barrel with a plastic plug or kids play doh. I then installed a hook in my work shop and I hang the gun ( ussually trigger guard ) barrel down, then Insert the wipeout straw fill the barrel until there is foam right to the top. Let it sit overnight and patch out the next morning. It works well.

Just curious, where can you get those delrin bore guides from? Was thinking of picking some up. Been currently using an Outers aluminum one.

You may be able to get them from possum hollow direct....or
Midway has them with charts to make sure you get the right one.

I did leave it in overnight and the patch came out a nice beautiful blue color. I will most likely be doing it again to make sure fully cleaned out. This is amazing to see what comes out even after I have always used brushes and Hoppes religiously.

Hoppes smells good but is really a poor cleaner compared to the stuff out there now.
Wipe-out is great stuff. I also use Shooters choice/Kroil oil, Tetra Gun and Sweets 7.62. All are better than Hoppes.

A little late to this campfire.

I use their "Patch Out", the same stuff, yes? I love it, and regularly leave it in the bore for 8 or more hours. Since it is syrupy I don't consider it likely it will pool much in the bottom of the bore.

My preferred method for application is to use a Parker-Hale jag, wrapped with a square Pro Shot patch the right size to form a snug fitting cylindrical mop in the bore. Soaked with the product, this mop gives maximum and uniform application. When I push it out the muzzle, it is apparent most of the product was left in the bore. Then I put blue masking tape over the muzzle and the rear of the bore guide to seal it up while it soaks.

Lever guns don't need to be cleaned. Shoot them until the bullets don't come out any more, and buy a new one.

Here's the really ez way to do it......get a piece of fuel line or plastic hose just slightly thicker than the neck of your cartridge.
Cut an 8" chunk and push it into the chamber for a snug fit...leave it curve out the ejection port....give a spray from the barrel end.......let it drain through to the hose. Works perfect for me in my 3030 and bar autoloaders. After soaking I send a 22 Cal rod and bore brush up to the chamber....wrap a patch onto the brush...and drag back to the bore.
