Would You Hunt Red Stag w/ this Load?

Well that didn’t work out as planned. Not unusable by any means but I think I can get better results.

#3
H4831sc 54.5gr
160 Partition
2637 fps
3.325 COAL
3.5” Group

I had some factory Remington Core Lokt 150’s lying around I tested out as well

#8
Factory Core-Lokt 150gr
2768 fps
.85”
Note: Aiming at black dot 2” below center.

Back to the drawing board for the 160 Partitions. Think I’ll go slightly longer back to 3.370 COAL on the next batch.

#3 group shows 3 shots about 1 in with 2 flyers. They looked about evenly spaced but opposite directions. You say you don't normally throw shots but just maybe you did pull at least one. Maybe not. I know you are running out of bullets but try loading four instead of five, split the difference between the first load c.o.l and the second say at about 15 thousand off the lands. Has worked for me in the past. You'll get it figured out and good hunting.

Yeah I may have pull some, I had a lot of shooting to do yesterday and I was rushing a touch. I loaded (4) more the 160’s with a COAL 3.330, slightly longer than the original builds.

I also picked up a box of AB 140’s, going to run a string of them with 59gr H4831sc today. Unfortunately they didn’t have any AB 130’s in stock.

It could be that your rifle just doesn't like the 160 gr PT. The 140 gr AB is a solid choice. Good luck with your load development.
