I usually use RL22 and it has worked well. What do you use?

Pop I have good luck with IMR 4350 for 100 grs on up to 120s and tried IMR 7828 with 120s with groups around a inch at 100 yards and now I'm giving Retumbo a try with the 115s and 120s now if the wind would quit I might be able to do some shooting but thats very rare this time of year :(

Pop, for bullets of 100 grains or less I usually use IMR 4831. Though lately, I have had some good results retesting H 4350.

For bullets of 115 to 120 grains I have settled on IMR 7828.

With the IMR 4831 or H 4350 I use Fed 210 primers. For the IMR 7828 I use Fed 215M primers.

I think I will switch to the H 4350 for my light bullet loads. I did some testing this year where I froze some ammo then took it to the range in an ice chest. I shot it against ammo that had been kept at ambient temperature.

In two seperate days of testing IMR 4831 that was frozen and kept cold lost an average of 70 fps when compared to ammo that was at around 75 degrees F.

On the same days H 4831 and H 4350 actually gained about 25 fps when shot right out of the ice chest.

On yet another test RL 22 lost only 34 fps when shot from the ice chest compared to ammo at ambient temp of 75-80 degrees F.

H4831, if its not going to shoot good with that powder its probably not going to shoot with anything else.
That's just my thoughts , may not be worth much.

Very interesting! Thanx for sharing!

H4350 for 100 gr bullets at 3300+ fps from a 24" barrel.

Have also had impressive results with H4831 and 100 grain bullets. Right now I'm working with Retumbo and 115 grain bullets. So far, it looks good.

Regards, Guy

I've tried a lot of powders and bullet weights but keep going back to 48 gr IMR 4350 and 120 partitions. Now Retumbo is being mentioned and them dern wheels are starting to turnin my head , hear I go again, thanks dudes.

I"ve used everything from IMR-4895, IMR-4064 to IMR-7828, H-1000, and Retumbo and everything inbetween out of my 25's. I would say I"ve probly burnt more IMR-4350 with 75-100g bullets, and H-4831, RL-22 with 110-125g bullets.

I've tried RL22 and 4831 in my browning but I keep coming to 4350 for 100 BTs, 110 AB, and 115 PT. I'm going to try 4831 with a bunch of lighter bullets for some late season varmint blasting.

54gr RL22 @ 3,150fps with 110gr Accubonds. Groups about an inch.

55.5gr. RL22 @3,340fps with 100gr BT's. Groups about 1/2 inch.

"I'm going to try 4831 with a bunch of lighter bullets for some late season varmint blasting."

If you like 4350 for 100's plus, why go to a slower powder (4831) for lighter bullets?

Wingnut - I've got 1 1/2 pounds of the stuff. I thought I'd experiment with it and get it used up.
