Let's hear it.

Nosler claims 3250 fps or so with 65 gr IMR 4831 and 150 gr projectile. I have never been able to reproduce this but it is what I would like to. Anyway Anyone?

My reload book shows max. IMR 4831 powder 65 grains and 3240 fps. with 150 gr. ballistic tip bullet.

Noslers Rock!

Yes so does mine. I just can never duplicate it. Either way I posted this as an example of what my idea of an ideal load would be.

Pop,

What does Quick Load show for subject load?

JD338

Pop,

I was getting a tad over 3200 fps with the 150 using 71.5 grs of H-4831sc. Someone on another forum ran it throuh his ballistic computer and his reply was "Dagner Will Robinson, Danger". But that load didn't show any outward sign of high pressure.

Hi Pop

I am reloading the 150 grain Ballistic Tip. My rifle has a 26 inch barrel, I am using Remington Brass, Federal 215M primers and RL 22.

My current load is a conservative 64grains at 3,030fps (chronographed average) and produces bughole size groups. In fact it is the best my rifle has ever shot. The brass lasts forever, with a 3 inch high on the target at 100 it is a dead hold all the way to 300 on pigs, goats, deer etc (no elk in Australia darn it) and drops 6-8 inches at 400 and 26inches at 500.

I know there is a craze for faster and bigger cartridges, but I am fast coming to realise that as a hunting rifle, the above ballistics are plenty good enough without ringing the neck out of everything...as I am sure you are aware.

Having said that, I was in the local gunshop the other day looking at the remington promotional dvd on the Ultra Mags. It was pretty compelling and then I stepped back and thought most of those shots I would make very comfortably with my old 7mm Remington Magnum.

Sorry for the banter, just happen to love the 7mmRM and am trying to resist the new craze...perhaps denial.

Long live the 7mmRM 8)

Pop,

May want to consider a 7mm STW.

JD338

Nah! Had one and 2 RUMS. Nothing like the standard REM Mag in my opinion.....for its size.

I was just wondering if anyone had reached Noslers 3250 fps with the 150 Partition.

Hi POP

Would you be kind enough to quick load imr4350 and h4831 with 150gr and 160gr BT out of a 26" barrel please as im having trouble getting an accurate load and have just got the imr poowder to try the 2 bullet with.

Cheers
Mildot

sorry pop i missed the SC of the H4831 powder! does the straight H4831 differ from the H4831SC?

Not at all! The only difference is physical, not chemical.

I shoot the 150gr bullets at 3500 out of my STW.
How long is your barrel? I'm a fan of the slowest powder that will do the job. Pop, have you tired H1000?

140gr ballistic tip was the bullet i used for years with a 1-11" twist barrel in the 7mm rem mag. lots of deer went through the freezer. max loads of h4831 cci primers. then the new barrel hates 140gr ballistic tips. 1-9" twist. if you want speed, go with the 140gr the load i used was 3200fps. extremely effective
