Watching my 9 y/o grandson struggle to use a full size sate call. I came up with a smaller 3” slate in purpleheart. Much easier for him to manipulate. Also scaled the striker down. Hope to put it to use this weekend. Supposed to rain the rest of the week so hopefully we’ll be able to get across the creek.

last Saturday was youth day for spring gobbler . our lease had 4 youth hunters , 2 were successful . one bird was shot at 40 - 45 yards . both used a 410 shooting TSS #9 shot . the guys are buying savage / stevens single shots , they come with a cheap red dot sight , and cost around $150 - $200 . I'm not sure if the local gun shop is putting this combo together , or if it's packaged this way from savage . I think it was 3 years ago , a gobbler was shot at just over 70yards with this 410 gun and TSS ammo .

EDIT ; we had 4 youth hunters , 2 were successful . I forgot one youth hunter .

Can't say I blame you. BTW need little call you made.
You'll have to fight a scrappy 10 y/o for it  .....PM me and I'll get you the particulars on one. I don't want to re-finish it, but I am sending it out for springs and other parts that wear over time.
