Gday Boomer,

Nice pics. I have a couple of Zastavas. A blued 270 and a stainless 30-06.

If you want to flick me an email at bobnob17@gmail.com I have a PDF of a good magazine review of exactly the rifle you have bought in 7x57.

Would be good to hear some range and reloading reports re your newest Zasty.

Regards.

- Bob

Great looking rifle. I'd ditch that ammo carrier in about a half a heartbeat.

Good rifle, great cartridge. A true classic!

Boomer, here's my blued 270 Win M70 Zastava, whacked into a Boyd's walnut...

And here's the stainless 30-06, before I Krylon'ed the stock...

Got your email just now, and article is on the way!

Thanks Bob, email received and much appreciated. I will for sure keep in touch and let you know how the load testing goes.

I also have a stainless - it is in 6.5x55. And my other is a wood stock blued in .375H&H.

Yours are very nice. How are they shooting?

What kind of groups are you guys getting with these rifles? I looked at the website and see that they offer a LH, so they have become interesting.

Darkhorse, both mine were solid 1.5moa shooters out of the box. When I Boyderised the 270 I grappled with bedding for a while and eventually have got it to the point where it's an honest 1.25moa gun for 5 shots.

With the stainless 30-06, all I have done is free float the plastic stock and with minimal load work it is a genuine 1moa rifle. Reluctant to mess with it but will probably put a laminated stock on it too.

Darkhorse as an example I shot these two groups sighting in the other day at 120y with the blued 270. I pulled the shot to the right on the left hand target; on the right hand target the single shot below the two higher ones is typical of that handload; very cheap PMC projectiles that are not conducive to group shooting. The sights were adjusted up between shooting the left and right targets.

Still a 1.3 moa group nonetheless.

The Boyds is floated with a blob of JB Weld around the recoil lug.

Good rifles for the money there's no doubt.

I notice they call it a M70, why do they call it that?
Isn't this the old tried and true Mauser action? Any idea what the barrel threads are? I assume metric.
I don't see actions only listed only complete rifles. Just wondering about using that action for a Left Hand build.

I think they thought calling it an M70 was clever marketing. Crazy Serbs!

Dunno about the barrel threads.

Actions in right and left hand versions are available in standard, magnum and heavy magnum. At least they are here in Aus. About $400 Australian. I'm half a mind to buy a couple and shove them in the back of the safe but we are building a house at present and some priorities have been identified!

Life always seems to have a way of getting between us and our desires.

Just received it in the mail yesterday. Looks even better in person. Bluing and wood are flawless. Looking forward to hunting season! Need to get some load development started...and a scope!
