Several years ago I made a grave mistake that I still regret today- I sold my hunting revolver. It was a 8" Colt Anaconda in .44 mag. It wore a 2x Leupold. I killed several deer with it and like a lot of people on here, sold a gun I shouldnt have. Anyway through the years I have been halfway looking for another deer shooting revolver. I had looked at the Ruger super blackhawk hunter model several times. Always in .44 mag. I was in a store today and saw one and it was a .45 colt. Didnt know they made that. Went home and researched it. Guess they were made for Lipsey's. Less than 600 made. Went back and bought it. Never owned a .45 colt before, I see where I can really crank it up or shoot mild target loads. I have a scope and a set of hogue rubber finger groove grips on the way from Midway. As soon as it all comes in I will put up a picture of my new deer thumper.

Does anyone have any experience killing deer with a .45 colt?

Brian

Grips and scope came in.

I see where Buffalo Bore makes some hot stuff for this gun!

Brian, I have 0 experience with the 45 Colt, but it seems like loaded to equal standards as the 44 Rem Mag, you'll have a cool thumper to hunt with. I think Nosler makes a couple of bullets for the .452 and such as well.

Can't wait to see that rig all set up. That is a pretty slick revolver.

This is my 45 colt. Ruger bisley engraved.
The 45 LC will do everything the 44 mag will do in the right package

I still own a couple of .45 Colt (USFA) SAA revolvers but they are not scoped. I have killed coyotes, coons, and various pests with a .45 Colt and never a deer but there is no reason not to. Get some slow pistol powder (I use LilGun) and you can easily get that 250 grain JHP up to 1200+ FPS in that Super Blackhawk.

That's nice Fotis! I dig that buddy!

Fotis, That is a Bisley, just like my Blackhawk .357 Bisley, except mine is blued and has a 7-1/2 inch barrel. It has the same stocks as well.
