I have owned several .270s through the years. I have loaded for other guy's .270s too. It seemed that every one of them "just did not like" anything over 140gr either! That's fine as we all know a 140/3000fps is pretty awesome, ha. However, when I went back to the Mod 700 Classics, I knew I would be getting long throats in them. I owned a lot of late 70's and 80's Mod 700s and they all ran on the long side, at lest mine did! I've never owned a Classic in either .270W nor 338WM until now. Both have the long throats. Sweet. I started out playing with 110 Sierra's and 130 Hornady SP just for coyotes/rocks in desert kind of loads. I still got great accuracy with the 110s making a really long jump. The 130s can be seated way out and 62gr H4831 was its best. But the best news is "this rifle loves the 150s/160!
R26/160 and N560/150PT were awesome. This is the first .270W I ever owned that shot them this well, much less this fast. These are still under 65K, according to QL. I am going to play with them some more, further out and see if they hold their accuracy. I have had some long bullets that opened up further out at 300+.
