Hey guys I have 2 rests made in the 90's and the company is now out of business so no spare parts.

As you can see the rear portion has a leather strap to house the butt end of the rifle. Both of mine ripped due to the big WBY recoils and deterioration.
Any ideas on what to replace them with please? It has to be tough but not able to mar the buttstocks.

Any input is welcome please.

It's the sewing the thick leather that is a bear. Tried it before.

That said I just thought about paracord......

Seat-Belt material on top that will be engaging your buttstock, should work fine and be fairly durable as well.
We moved to a seatbelt type material on all of our rear bags and front bags, as it is slick enough, and was so much more durable than other materials that we have used in the past.

our GOVERNMENT AT ITS FINEST. thank YOU AGAIN!

Be hopeful it doesn’t get caught in an endless loop. I’ve had to have a seller initiate a claim with USPS to stop the loop and resend it.

For similar issues when you need to sew thick leather, make holes first with a small drill bit (dremel or cordless). You can mark the hole spacing with the tines of a fork.
This is a good idea. If you want to go even more rudimentary and have an icepick handy, you can pre-punch the holes with that. I have even punched holes by hammering them in with nails. I have thick saddle needles for stitching leather, but I don't use them. Instead I have found it easier to just use fabric needles that I dulled because they are thin enough to slip right through my pre-punched holes with hardly any effort.
