Gaps in your caliber battery

From 17 HMR to 500 Smith & Wesson I have the coverage I need. I will not consider having only one hunting rifle chambered in 270 Winchester a shortcoming.
The deer and pronghorn where I live have fallen with good shots from rifles as “small” as a 243 WSSM all the way to 300 Weatherby. When you blow up the heart there is not much for the deer to do except crumple.

If I could only have one rifle for North America it would be a .338 Win Mag.
While I have more calibers/cartridges I’m in the .338 and .416 camp. There’s nothing in North America that the .338 can’t handle. For Africa I’m leaning towards a two gun combo of .338 Win Mag and .416 Taylor.
I have a .223 and a 6.5 Creedmoor for the bottom end but anything I could use them for I can just use the .338 on. There’s no such thing as “Too Dead.” When I go to South Africa in November I’m taking the .338 Win Mag. Next trip will probably be the .338 and .416 unless I just take the .375 as one of my animals will be Cape Buffalo.
I’m currently in the process of paying for the .416 Taylor and I think that with the Win Mag makes a great two gun combo.

If I have any gaps thru the 338/06 AI, which is as big as I have a use for, it would be caliber specific. Meaning I have options the are better suited for particular game, than what is missing.

17 Mach IV, 222, 223, 6BR, 6x45, 6x47L, 6mm AI, 257AI, 30BR 30x47L. Then the 338/06 AI. I can't think of a cartridge better suited for varmint thru mule deer sheep and black bear than I have for eastern, western, Northern, or southern territories. For anthing bigger on this cotinent, that 338/06 would be what I consider more than adequate. Target for group or score, I can't consider anything better, so thats no gaps to fill as well.

For handguns, well after selling my 454's 460, and 475's, I'm left with .22 rf's, 357, and 45 in a ruger Colt wich is all i need. I did have one that i so stupidly sold, I wish I had back to fill a varmint revolver role, a 6" HB GP100, in 327 Federal! Still kicking myself.

For cc, 32S&W, .38 spcl, and 45 acp. Even the 2 shot 45 Colt for spcl occasions

In all honesty, i don't think after 70 years of filling gaps, I have any. Maybe in air guns, where I have 6 in .177, and 2 in .22. Probably should part with 3 or 4 .177's and add a 9mm and a .45, that would be where my missing gap is?

Uneaded, but maybe a 480 ior 475 n a single action I shoulda kept, but that 45 Colt with 340 grain WFN's, is prety comforting for the same uses.

I have a .223 but I’d like something more interesting in .22. I missed a 225 Win rifle a few weeks back on a local auction that would’ve sufficed.
I also keep looking for a 7x57 because it’s much cooler than 7-08.
I’d also like a 32 Win Special but not in a 94, a 64 would suit me. That would fit in nicely after the .30’s which I have too many of.
What I do have:
.223
.243 Wininchester
250 Savage
257 Roberts
256 Newton
7mm-08
.30 TC
30-06
300 H&H
30 Newton
.348 Winchester
9x57 Mauser

.17 (check)
.22 (check x 3)
.24 (gap?)
.25 (check x 2)
.26 (gap? my 6.5 X 55 went down the road)
.27 (gap? Nope, don't like 270s)
28 (check x 2)
.30 (check x 2)
.32 (gap?)
.33 (gap? Possible 338 WM?)
.35 (gap? thinking about a 35 Whelen)
.375 (check)
.416 (gap? Nop. prefer my 404J)
.423 (check)
.45 (gap? Not really)

This is about all I care to load for. I have rifles that I have not done complete load development. Some calibers I just have no interest in

There is no crime on having a gap, or gaps, in your firearms battery.
We all have varied tastes and interests, and can appreciate that we don’t all have to agree on which calibers we choose to own and shoot.
For me, while I have owned a 243, it didn’t do much for me at the time as moose was the main goal of the day. I did like my friend’s 6mm just a little better, but it was due more to the rifle than the cartridge, as his more accurate. The one that has intrigued me is the 240 Wby… but I haven’t scratched that itch…yet.
The other is the 8mm, just wasn’t any cartridges calling to me. If I hadn’t already been a 338 fan, I might have looked at the 325 WSM.
As for the 45’s; just never cottoned to the 45-70, and with the 416, didn’t feel like I needed a 458.
