I want a cheep to reload for plinker prs gun and budget gun I'm thinking 22 or 6mm bullet. Smaller than 308 case. At the moment I think the best option is a howa 1500 mini heavy barreled 22 arc In a mdt field stock or b and c target stock. But what are your thoughts.

I would lean towards the 6mm Arc for the 6mm option. A real budget shooter would be in 223 Rem.

My bad , I was thinking you were looking at the Howa Mini.

I have a dozen of the Wby Vanguard/Howa rifles making them my clear choice.

As much fun as I used to have shooting a good friend's Brno in 222 Rem, I have always wanted a trim little left handed bolt action in 221 Fireball. There are many other cartridges that will offer more velocity, but the Fireball provides decent performance in a mild mannered rifle that will be fun to shoot, economical to reload, and still perform well on varmints.
I have owned a Rem 700 Classic chambered to this round and had fun shooting it while I owned it...but still would love a left handed rifle...and while I own a LH CZ 527 American in 204 Ruger, I know that they built it the 221 Fireball in right hand, just not sure if they had offered it in left hand.
This would get my vote...but this is just my opinion!

I’ve used the light, easy to shoot, easy to load for excuse many times. Kinda how I started collecting Ruger #1 rifles. I own a .22-250 and a 204 then jump up to a 257 Roberts. Great joys to shoot. I’ve owned, as I recall 4, different #1 in 243, all of which went down the road.
I can’t help you with any of the more modern 22 - 25 caliber offerings having never owned any less than the 6.5 creedmore. I do know a couple of guys around here who are good enough in the PRS game to be sponsored. They are really singing the praise of the 25 creedmore. I’ve seen some load developement at 300 yards and would liken it to guided munitions.
I fully support your efforts to fill in a gap in your shooting needs category. I would offer you should have a rifle to deploy, depending on the situation, in every caliber range up to 35. From there on up you can probably get by with just another 4 more, 375; 416, 458 to 470 nitro and of course a decent stopping rifle such as a 577NE 3inch.
Please do keep us informed and in the interim, nothing wrong with a Howa in one of ARC offerings.
Now for my first cup of coffee.

I’d go for it. It’s a super accurate round, the BC’s will blow less than the 6mm version and do it with less recoil.
The 22 PPC which the ARC is based off, was stupidly good especially in such a small case that will extend your barrel life.
I have one being built, and went in that direction because of the case design and being able to shoot 80-90 gr bullets.
It’s a good package for the Howa Mini, the heavy barrel will help with extended fire and precision shooting.
Good luck, and keep your own goals in mind. You won’t regret it.
