Tikka 7mm Rem Mag, 175 ELDX recipes needed

My brother wants to try the 175 ELDX in his Tikka 7mm Rem Mag. I currently load the 162 ELDX using Reloder 26 but he’s thinking about something new so I told him I’d do some research.

Anyone have a good recipe, preferably with R26?

Start at 63 gr and work up.

What's the barrel's twist rate? Hornady recommends a minimum of 1:8.5 for that bullet. I don't believe most factory Tikka 7 RM's have enough twist for that bullet.

I have a Tikka T3X in 7 mag.

I load AccuBonds, Silvertip Ballistics, GameKings, and ABLR’s out of this gun.. it loves all of them.

My two favorites are Silvertip Ballistics and AB’s in 150g.

N160, N165 and H4350

With an aftermarket 26” barrel and 1:8 twist they shoot really well for me. Using RL25, Staball HD, or LRT I’m very satisfied. As mentioned previously a 1:9-1:10 twist barrel probably won’t stabilize them well. Here are some loads from Hornady’s manual. Hope this helps a little.
