Red dots are fantastic, especially for aging eyes.Really nice shooting, Im currently shopping for a red dot or 2.
Very nice shooting Guy. I had two Holosuns installed on my Kimber .38 Super and .45 a couple months ago, it had to have the rear sight knocked out to install a base in the dovetail to be able to adapt the Holosun. I see you still have that rear sights on yours behind the Holosun. I have contacted Kimber before for information and their response was that they cannot machine the top of the slide to install the base since the top of the slide is not thick enough and it will affect the mechanisms under the slide on the Kimbers. How were you able to get it machined or did you get the gun with the top pre machined?Today I got out to the range with the Springfield again. I'm getting better with this green-dot Holosun. The 45's are printing well from 3-25 yards. I swapped to a handload I used as long as 40 years ago 200 grain cast LSWC bullets over 5.0 grains of W231 for about 800 fps. Yes, I missed one at 25 yards: View attachment 28664

Wow, that Ronin interchangeable system is very nice stuff. My Kimbers are the older models, but still looking new. Shoots great with the Holosuns on it as well. I like the newer models where it already has the ramp feature to install the Holosuns. This is the model of Ronin that comes with easy to detach rear sight, leaving a spot perfectly machined for a sight base. Springfield uses the "Agency Optical System" which is a series of different mounting plates for various dot-type sights. One advantage is that the sight base includes an integral rear sight - which can be used if something goes wrong with the red-dot sight. When I bought the Ronin, it also came with an $80 discount coupon for the sight base.

I'm impressed with how well thought-out and well built their system is. I think Kimber offers something similar in a factory gun now. I was going to put the Holosun on my newer Kimber, but instead I traded the Kimber and some cash for the new Springfield Ronin. I like both the Kimber and the Ronin, but wanted to try the Springfield setup.
Regards, Guy
Thanks for the info on that load - I knew it was available - but I don't have any N310 on hand. Perhaps I shall get some!Very nice Guy.
As for the 185gr Nosler JHP the AMU load is 4.3grs of N310, that load will hold under 3" at 50yds in a well-tuned 1911 .45.
Tite group with the same charge should do well also, 750fps-800fps is the sweet spot for that bullet.
Nah , that was a warning shotYes, I missed one at 25 yards:
