Towards the end of our morning walk today, dog and I came upon a heron that was catching breakfast. He got a large fish, and yes with some work & effort managed to swallow it whole:

King Fishers seem to be so doggone quick! I've only managed a few mediocre photos of them over the years, despite seeing the pretty frequently. Looking forward to seeing her results!

It's amazing that they can swallow such a big fish like that. Would make some excellent video if you have that option with your camera.

The camera does a nice job with video - but I don't often have a tripod along with me on my daily walks. Without a tripod (or something else) to steady the camera, the video quality isn't what I'd like to show. I do sometimes take some short videos that come out okay though. Might try to post some of those time to time. Thanks!

What about using a walking stick/monopod?
I’m actually looking for a tripod for Sue’s camera now.
