    Atikokan Boy Scout canoe trip

When I was a kid in Scouts, I always wanted to go to Boundary Waters. Now my lower back can't handle sitting in a canoe for more than 2 days. I will be taking my 3rd trip to Philmont this summer. I will be seeing the South end of the camp for the first time. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

    Monolithic Bullets

I shot a bull with my .338 win mag with 185 gr Hornady gmx. Though both lungs at 35 yards. Muzzle velocity was 3060fps. Dropped in its tracks. Etips have worked well in my 7 mm rem mag. on whitetail. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

    PA Dutch Sweet Bologna

Does it taste like Kutztown, Weavers or Baums sweet bologna? I prefer Weavers. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

    Cartridge for youth hunter

I bought my daughter a Savage 110 in .270 used for $250. Then I bought a .243 takeoff barrel and installed on the 110. Savage rifles are easy to swap barrels so she is set. If she wants to hunt elk I'll get a 30-06 barrel. Lots of Savage barrels and parts on the Savageshooters site. I bought a...

    E-Tip Success & Cautions please

I have killed 3 deer using etips in my 7mm Rem mag. First was a buck at 150 yards quartering to me. Bullet entered in front of the near shoulder and was recovered in opposite ham. Bullet looked like one posted above. On next two deer, a doe and a buck on Monday, the bullets passed through so no...

Info needed for 7mm RM 140gr E-tips with RS Hunter

I finally got my dies, bullets and brass to load for my 7mm Rem Mag. I have some Ramshot Hunter I would like to try but I am not sure where the max charge should be with the E-tips. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

    Etip beyond 500 yds

Something didn't seem right about the numbers I posted so I rechecked. I was looking at the energy figures (ft lbs) and not the velocity (fps). A 7mm RM should be good out to 700 yards with 1850 fps with enegy around 1100 ft lbs.

    Etip beyond 500 yds

I used Handloads.com. Using 3100fps it calculates 1850fps @ 400yds and 1722fps @ 450fps. I usually don't get to shoot past 400yds where I hunt. I guess if I want to shoot farther I will need to use my 338 Win Mag, that will have enough energy to 500yrs.

    Etip beyond 500 yds

Has anyone shot anything with the Etips beyond 500yds. I am thinking about trying them in my 7mm RM but saw the minimum velocity is listed at 1800 fps. According to some ballistic calculators the 150 gr would reach that around 450 yds. What are your thoughts?

    Hornady GMX Pellets

I don't know if I'll be able to use the same load with the GMX bullet as I do with SST. My SST load (59.5 gr IMR 4350 in a 30-06) is slightly compressed and the GMXs are quite a bit longer.

    POP,Quickload help for 30-30 win

Pop, Does your quickload program have info on the Hornady .308 flextip bullet for 30-30 win. The bullet weight is 160 grains. I want to find a load using Varget. The Hornady site has loads for similar powders but not Varget. Thanks Chris

? for Combined Tech Ballistic Tip users

30-06 for elk, thinking of 165- 180 grain bullets. I also have a .243 win. that my wife uses for deer but Sierras and Hornady SST bullets seem to open too quickly and sometimes come apart.

? for Combined Tech Ballistic Tip users

How well do these bullets hold together on deer? Also does the coating limit the copper fouling? My rifle barrel fouls quickly even with using Tubb's Final Finish and JB bore compound. Also would this bullet stay together on Elk?

    quickload for 30-06

What would the difference be with a 22 inch barrel instead of the 26 in.? Nearly every reloading manual I see uses a 24 in barrel. Currently I use either sierra 165 spbt or hornady 165 sst with 57.0 gr IMR 4350 but I have been thinking about trying the 165 gr accubond for better weight...
