Yep I took elk nuber 9 this year. I did not see an elk till first day of cow season and it was a cow. Freezer was almost empty so I opted to take her. Sorry I have no pics but I did recover the 180 grain Accubond and I may be able to post a pic of it later. All others have been bulls. We have...
are they small and black?? If so that was what was in them when I got them and they didnt have the actual expander with them. I emailed Redding and told them and they had the expander balls to me in 3 days.
I am getting this to deer hunt with and may be offered a chance at an elk so I prefer not to use Ballistic Tips. I wish they made a Accubond. But I cant find it if they do. The barrel is 26 inches and 1 in 8 twist si they need to be 90+ grains
Anyone tried these out?? I have a custom 6mm Rem barrel coming for my Encore and am trying to line up what I am going to shoot. Looks like for my use the only real choice I have is the Partition or the E-Tip. Anyways if you have used them let me know how they performed.
today I used IMR 7828 SSC. Groups .5 moa and velocity was 2780 with 150 grain partition and 59.5 grains of powder and the manual claims 3024. I also shot my 300 Win Mag and velocity was 3120. It is the same as always. I think the chrono is correct. I can get the same velocity with my 7mm-08 as I...
Most are close for me. 300 WM, 300 Ultra are dead on. Its just this 270 I am having a problem with. I will try a good dose of IMR 7828ssc tomorrow and see what happens. 300 fps less with RL22 just doesnt seem right
I loaded some rounds yesterday with RL 22 and the Nosler manual put them above 3000 fps. They chrono'd at 2700. Anyone know what is up? I checked chrono before and after and it is fine. Had slightly flattened primers with this load
Savage 24 inch barrel.
59 grains RL22
Fed 215 primers
Win brass...
I just tried some RL22 in my sons 270 WSM in a Savage with 24 inch barrel and it sucks. Used a load that the manual claims over 3000 FPS and the Chrono is showing 2700 and slightly flattened primers.
Im going to play some more. I forgot my glasses and it affected my shooting. Blind as a bat without them so I adjusted the scope the best I could. Also with the hBN coated bullets Im sure I can go up a few more grains. Not bad though for one of them single shots
Went to the range yesterday. Took the 300 Win Mag and loaded up some RL22.
These are the first I have loaded for it and I guess I just got lucky. For me RL22 is the powder for the win mag
75 grains RL22
180 grain Nosler Accubond seconds hBN coated
WW brass
Fed. 215 primers
velocity average 3120...
Ive shot elk, deer and moose with Ballistic Tips. All I can say its a shame to waste 50+ lbs of elk or moose to bullet performance so I no longer use them. They may be excellent way out but up close they do to much damage
